Publisher's summary

Making decisions I regret is basically a hobby. So I guess it really wasn’t that surprising when I went out on a date with an Elite. And then he tried to assault me.

I might be small, but I’m strong. I fought him off...then went straight to the dean. He didn’t believe me. No one does. And now my date from hell is in revenge mode, and I somehow end up in the campus pool.

Did I mention I can’t swim?

Lucky for me, a knight in shining armor saves me from drowning. Except he’s not wearing shining armor. He’s naked. And he’s also Elite.

Seriously, what is up with these Elite swimmers?

Of course, I have no intention of ever seeing his very good-looking, naked highness again. Elite obviously can’t be trusted.

Until he wraps me in his hoodie and promises to believe me. Now I’m drowning again—but this time in his enigmatic cobalt eyes and addictive touch.

My only oxygen is him. I think I maybe could fall in love.

But will he keep his promise when I tell him the truth about his teammate? Or will trusting Ryan with my heart and my life be just another decision to regret?

*Please note this book contains assault, mentions of rape, and themes that may be triggering for some listeners.

Tropes included in this book: possessive male, praise kink, size difference, instalove, woman in danger, sports romance, college romance, romantic suspense, swimmer romance

Overall 3 STARS 🏊‍♂️

The beginning makes you think it will be romcom. And while it does have it’s funny moments it also deals with serious issues like assault.

Ryan, an elite swimmer meets Rory when he rescues her from drowning. He immediately is taken with her so this is definitely insta love. He has a lot of qualities I like in my heroes. He will burn the world down for her and will do whatever it takes to protect his girl. He has some StalkerISH tendencies that come in handy because Rory needs to be rescued multiple times.

I enjoyed the story overall but there are a few things that prevented me from giving it a higher rating. I’m so sorry but the word BRO was way overused. Now I don’t have a problem with that word and maybe reading vs listening to it makes it less noticeable? And while I liked the characters on their own I was missing the spark between them. I did like how Ryan’s teammates had his back and Rory’s though. I would recommend if you are looking for a quick sports romance that is low angst. And if you of course like the alpha male. 🤩

This is a standalone within a series and you can tell
what other couples will be paired off.

Narration was a solid 4 STARS
Both give each character their own voice.

Full of suspense...

Wet is book 1 in the Westbrook Elite series and my first book by Cambria Hebert and I am hooked. This is Ryan and Rory's story, it was full of suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat. Smoking hot chemistry with a possessive and protective alpha male. It's addictive and romantic with all the feels and amazing secondary characters. I can't wait for more in this series.

Celia Stone and Oliver Highpoint did a fabulous job portraying these characters.

Over here dying for book 2!

This was a really fun read that, even as someone who is typically pretty aloof, it really kept my emotions running high throughout.

It definitely depicts the whole ‘no one will believe you’ thing, if you’re a woman trying to report SA, period. Let alone if you’re trying to report it on a jock, or rich person, etc.

So it’s scary … super sweet … apprehensive … infuriating … frustrating … it goes around and around and all the while there’s some romance and some steamy scenes as well. I enjoyed being submerged in this world as well and cannot wait to hear book 2!

It also serves as a good reminder that it’s not all men—there were so many good ones in this story, and yea, it’s fiction, but this is my experience in real life too. So I enjoyed the ‘keeping it real’ element. The author seems to have done a good job with this all-around, actually.

4 stars.

Audio:
The narrators sounded amazing, performing the book, rather than opting to sound like AI. And the sound quality was consistently perfect throughout. 🦩

A Wet & Wild Ride! Terrific Story & Narration

“Wet” is a wild story and a fantastic introduction to Cambria Hebert’s new series and world she created on the campus of Westbrook University where the “Elite” swimmers are the Kings of the campus. Aurora “Rory” Coin is a photographer on the school paper and she went on a date with one of those “Elite” swimmers, Jonas Hughes, a date that turned bad when he tried to take something she was not willing to give. She fought him off and when she went to report him, the dean blew her off and did nothing. She had a feeling she was not the first person this happened to, so came up with a plan, a plan that almost cost her life. Ryan Walsh had finished some extra practice when he heard her in the pool and then saw she was drowning and he jumped in and saved her. There was an instant connection between them, but after Rory’s ordeal with Jonas, she could not get involved with another Elite swimmer, besides the two may be friends. Ryan was hoping she would call, she didn’t, but he got to see her when she covered the event for the school’s paper, and he knew he made an impression on her when he saw she wore his button and no one else’s from the swim team. Rory never told him who was after her that night, but he put two and two together after catching Jonas threatening her, and he went ballistic, though she thought he was going to side with Jonas and ran. Ryan did not side with Jonas and he believed Rory, and so did Jamie, Ryan’s sidekick and wingman. I loved watching Rory and Ryan’s relationship blossom, they were great together and for each other. He was bossy and protective, but it worked for them. Jonas continued to be a thorn in their side, on the team too, and when you think he is going to get what he deserves, to get thrown off the team and then some, but none of that stops him form going after Rory again. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is cleverly plotted and has plenty of drama, angst, some thrilling and suspense, heartfelt emotions and a steamy romance.  Besides the two amazing lead characters, Ryan and Rory, who I adored, there are some amazing secondary characters too and I am looking forward to their stories too. Cambria Hebert, thank you for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the fantastic narration, Cambria Hebert chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. Celia Stone and Oliver Highpoint are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They did a fabulous job portraying these characters, giving each a voice that fit that character’s persona and was believable in every role they played. Stone nailed it as Rory, grasping all sides of her personality, from her fear and insecurities to her strength and determination. Highpoint’s Ryan was spot-on, playing the perfect protective alpha who was not afraid to show his caring side. Both were fabulous performing the roles of all the secondary characters, too. These entertaining storytellers set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and had you feeling every single one. Thank you for this fabulous listen.

Romantic Suspense / Sports Romance

Wet by Cambria Hebert is a romantic suspense sports romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Celia Stone and Oliver Highpoint. This is the first book in the Westbrook Elite series.

This is the first book of Cambria's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship between Rory and Ryan. I loved that we got both of their points of views throughout the book.

I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Wingspan so I can get Jamie and Madison's story.

Oliver and Celia did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like romantic suspense, college romances, or sports romances.

A Suspenseful and Emotional Ride With Lots Of Heart

Rory isn’t going down without a fight. After the Elite guy she went on a date with attempts to SA her, she tries to report it but no one will believe her. As a photo journalist she’s determined to prove his guilt and prevent him from hurting any other girls. Unfortunately her plan to catch him in the act backfires and she ends up almost drowning.

Ryan knows from the minute he saves Rory from the pool that she’s the one. The only problem is she’s distrustful of the elite and she refuses to let another one try to hurt her. Ryan though is willing to be patient and prove he not only believes her but will help bring her justice. But there’s someone who wants revenge and he won’t stop until he has it.

Ryan was the knight in shining armor every girl wants but make him a hot elite swimmer. Rory was a mix of strong independent woman and damsel in distress. I loved that Ryan didn’t just want to protect her, he wanted to help her be able to protect herself. I also loved his bromance with Jaime and the other guys on the team and how they welcomed Rory as one of their own.

The narrators were engaging and I really felt Rory’s narrator did a fantastic job especially through all the intense scenes.

This one is suspenseful emotional journey that had me on the edge of my seat! I can’t wait for book two now because Jamie and Madison have insane chemistry and I can’t wait for him to win her over!
