Story
Anger is a universal human experience. For many of us, it is the single greatest challenge in every area of our lives. We have been taught that anger itself is a sin and should be avoided at all costs. However, anger is also understood to be 'nature's way' of preparing man to respond in times of danger. How then do we go about bringing this volatile emotion under the Lordship of Jesus Christ? Gary Chapman gives us the perfect tool to answer this and many other questions in The Other Side of Love.

Story
In this revolutionary book, renowned physician Gabor Maté eloquently dissects how in Western countries that pride themselves on their healthcare systems, chronic illness and general ill health are on the rise. Nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug; more than half take two. In Canada, every fifth person has high blood pressure. In Europe, hypertension is diagnosed in more than 30 percent of the population. And everywhere, adolescent mental illness is on the rise. So what is really “normal” when it comes to health?

Do you or someone you care about experience episodes of extreme and unpredictable anger? The first thing you need to know is that you are not alone. Researchers estimate that some seven percent of Americans may at some time experience a condition called intermittent explosive disorder (IED), which is characterized by reoccurring periods of extraordinary anger, and millions more have less frequent yet equally damaging experiences with rage. The second thing you need to know is that there is help.

Story
It's easy to identify rage in people who lose their temper at traffic jams, unruly children, unresponsive coworkers, and unrealistic bosses. But we may not recognize more subtle manifestations of anger, such as being uncomfortable with loose ends, acting impatiently, or being overly critical. That is anger, too. And, as is so often the case, angry folks don't seem to realize that the behavior causing them problems at home or at work actually stems from unrecognized and unresolved pain and emotional injuries from the past. Â

In Hold Me Tight, Dr. Sue Johnson presents Emotionally Focused Therapy to the general public for the first time. Johnson teaches that the way to save and enrich a relationship is to reestablish safe emotional connection and preserve the attachment bond.

Publisher's Summary
Discover a compassion-based method for defusing conflict and creating better relationships in every area of your life.Â
How do you respond to anger - in yourself or others? Do you fight fire with fire, or run for cover? Dr. Christian Conte created Yield Theory™ as a way to meet conflict without aggression or submissiveness through the practice of compassionate listening, de-escalation, and genuine communication. With Walking Through Anger, he shares this revolutionary model for dealing with inflamed emotions in even the most difficult and charged situations. Combining Buddhist wisdom, neuroscience, and Dr. Conte's hands-on experience as a top anger management therapist, Walking Through Anger teaches you powerful tools for resolving conflict in a way that promotes deeper connection and understanding, including:Â
- The three steps of Yield Theory: listen, validate, and explore optionsÂ
- Acceptance: the art of meeting others where they are without judgmentÂ
- Authenticity: staying true to your essential self within conflictÂ
- Compassion: choosing to connect from a foundation of empathyÂ
- Nonattachment: letting go of the need to "be right"Â
- Conscious education: the essential shift from emotion-based conflict to rational interaction
- Creativity: opening the door to solutions you can't imagine from an angry placeÂ
- Mindfulness: cultivating moment-to-moment awareness of emotional energyÂ
- The "Five Errors of Communication": how to avoid the most common pitfallsÂ
"Communicating in the heat of conflict can feel overwhelming," says Dr. Conte, "Yield Theory gives you the tools to lead with compassion so that you can get around other people's defense mechanisms, communicate in ways that are actually heard, and connect more quickly and authentically than you ever thought possible." Walking Through Anger is a profound resource for learning to deal effectively with the most difficult emotions - in yourself and in others - to transform your relationships, interpersonal conflicts, and your day-to-day experience of life.

life changing
Dr Christian Conte's work has changed the trajectory of my life. it's been years now since I've finished this book for the first time. since then I've purchased a hard copy and reread, relistened to this book over and over again. I've taken notes, I've applied the concepts to my life, I've even purchased and worked through the anger management workbook that Dr Christian Conte coauthored.
I quote passages and stories from this book all the time, to myself and to others.
although there are many portions of the book that have deeply impacted me, there is one small quote which I say to myself durring difficult moments and which always helps to strengthen my resolve and soften my fears/anger:
"Everything has a beginning, a middle, and an end... Including this."
I cannot recommend this book enough, if you struggle to control your anger, if you have explosive rage, if you are full of fury, you need this book. you're going to fall in love with how gentle loving validating and kind this book treats you. you're going to learn to fall in love with yourself and you're going to learn how to focus your power through softness instead of through anger, and regain control of yourself and control of your life.<3

Life has a way of provoking us with traffic jams and computer malfunctions, with emotionally distant partners and crying children—and before we know it, we're upset. We feel terrible, and then we end up saying and doing things that only make matters worse. But it doesn't have to be that way, says Pema Chödrön. It is possible to relate constructively to the inevitable shocks, losses, and frustrations of life so that we can find true happiness. The key, Pema explains, is not biting the "hook" of our habitual responses.

Researchers estimate that some seven percent of Americans may at some time experience a condition called intermittent explosive disorder (IED), which is characterized by reoccurring periods of extraordinary anger, and millions more have less frequent yet equally damaging experiences with rage.

Story
Life has a way of provoking us with traffic jams and computer malfunctions, with emotionally distant partners and crying children—and before we know it, we're upset. We feel terrible, and then we end up saying and doing things that only make matters worse. But it doesn't have to be that way, says Pema Chödrön. It is possible to relate constructively to the inevitable shocks, losses, and frustrations of life so that we can find true happiness. The key, Pema explains, is not biting the "hook" of our habitual responses.

Seasoned mediator Diane Hamilton provides the skill set you need to engage conflict with wisdom and compassion, and even - sometimes - to be grateful for it.
