One of the most influential books I’ve read in this lifetime! Great introduction to the philosophy of Stoicism for the aspiring Stoic.

thought provoking

I thought the book was right, the part of stoicism that really turned me off. i’d highly recommend this book for people that want to understand socialism at a higher level. but other books like The Obstacle is the Way,Other books do a better job of providing you a framework to follow.

A new vision

This book was recommended to me by my mentor. I’m glad I took the time to read and listen to it. This is the beginning of a be journey I will embark on… The journey of stoicism. Many parts of the book were like a mirror… I certainly haven’t been practicing Arête. There are many of the principles I need to be mindful of and place in to practice everyday from now on, especially now that I am a parent. One of the rare books that have changed my life and given me a new vision for the rest of my life… I appreciate this book so much.

Good material, a little dorky delivery

The narration is decent until they go to read any quote from an ancient philosopher. All of the quotes are done in a really strange accent that comes off as just silly. it was so hard to take those sections seriously. It stinks because I would love to share this with others, but I can't bring myself to tell them about the audio book, just the hard copy.

This book kicks butt!!

I’ve read and listened to many books on Stoicism. Many by the most popular author on Stoicism. All of them are filled with great info. Stoicism is great at helping you through the tough times but also a model for how to live a good and honorable life.
I love that this book breaks Stoicism down into lots of bit sized lessons. Very helpful info.
Get this book if you really want to understand Stoicism. My opinion is that it’s “top notch” and one of if not the best books on Stoicism.
