Factoids incorrect inside.....

In the story, it is said that Missy killed her husband Bud Longbreak by chaining his body to a wind turbine; in fact, she killed Earl A., her 4th husband that horrible way....and the special hat given Joe by Gov Spence was suddenly $2500 instead of the $900 the Gov had said originally upon giving it to him.

You just can't make this stuff up! New story line development......

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. As always when you think about the kidnapping of the bar tender..... really? The author was really thinking through the entire plot. How does Missy get away with what she does?

What does David Chandler bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The different inflections of voice that he uses draws pictures of the characters as well as the scene in my mind

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

No good deed goes unpunished.

Luv Nate Romanowski and look forward to the next installment of Joe and his adventures with Nate and his family.

Great Stuff

I've been waiting for another Joe Pickett book and in the interim since the last, I've listened to other authors in the rural mystery vein only to find them lacking. C.J. Box is a national treasure.

really enjoyed this read. Good narration.
CJ Box does it agian. I look forward to the next one.

Cliff hanger

I liked the story but it left me hanging. Hopefully the next Ickes novel is out soon.

I absolutely love this series. Well written and well performed by the narrator. If you’re looking for something intriguing to read, this series is it.

Another great addition to the Joe Pickett series

Excellent thriller mystery that I’ve come to expect from CJ box! Great to see the resurgence of an old foe, and the reconnection of how that old enemy came back to ignite the fire in the rivalry between the Cates and Pickett family. This book had good twists and surprise appearances From past characters really did well to close the loop on some characters while keeping me entertained the whole way through!
