Another home run by CJ Box!

Fans of the Joe Pickett series will not be disappointed by this latest installment. Box is one of the best storytellers around today. The storyline is taut and compelling, a real page turner. The action and the tension never let up, and you will want to keep listening until you find out how everything ends. Do usual cast of characters has returned, and for fans it is like a reunion with old friends. The narration by Mr. Chandler is excellent. Overall, this was a most enjoyable listen and I highly recommend it.

Too much social commentary

The story itself was good once it got going but the inclusion of so much current social commentary was off putting and not why I read this series.

Pickett, a quiet hero

Another great. story by CJ Box and excellent narration by David Chandler. I've read all the Joe Pickett series and I have never been disappointed. I love all the characters, and Joe is a stellar protagonist. CJ takes current cultural and political situations and builds a great story. The bad guys are usually ruthless and cruel, but Joe gets the upper hand in crazy situations by just being his law abiding self.
He is brave,clever and resourceful as we discovered in this story. My one disappointment is that I have to wait til next book to find out if Nate Romanowski Joe's best friend solves his problems.
A problem that arose while he was helping Joe. I look forward to the next audiibook.

Great! Loved the idea that once back on his own turf, the. sanctimonious guy reverts. It's a long wait until next March as the story continues.

Maybe the best Pickett story so far

While there are a few plot machinations that stretched credulity, this may be the best Pickett novel thus far. I found it very hard to put down. I’m looking forward to Nate’s next adventure.

Another winner, don’t worry about the language

It’s another good story. Reviews upset about the F bomb are fortunate enough to not be exposed to swearing very much. I didn’t find it troublesome. My only complaint is with the nate’s part of the story and lack of conclusion, now I have to wait for the next book.

Terrific!

This was my first C J Box novel and I think I’m hooked! Great writing, fascinating information about outdoor life, hunting and falconry. Great narration as well. 5 stars all around.

I was pulled in from the very beginning. I really enjoyed this story. It would make a great movie 🍿.

Loved it!!

I like seeing Sheridan “grown up” as well as the premise of the story. Ready for the next one, you said you had plenty of time to write during the pandemic :-).
