Overall a good series

These book were good overall, but were pretty predictable. That's not always a bad thing though. The only thing I wish is that the characters would have been a little more developed, so I could have cared about them more.

Under the Mountain

Isabella and her family and friends are held prisoner in the lowest levels of Mt Weather and are slated to clean up some of the highest radiated areas without any protection. Luke has also made it to Mt Weather and has made friends with others that are rebels and hate what the higher ups are doing to the mutants and are ready to help Luke free his sister and friends.

This is the last book in the trilogy and probably the best. It has so much action and suspense you just can not stop reading or if you are lucky enough to get the audio narrated by Ann Bumbak you can't stop listening. Ms Bumbak is wonderful she draws you into the story and makes you feel as though you are there fighting along side everyone sometimes as a rebel sometimes as a mutant, but you will have to stay and see what happens all the way to the end. This was a great series and one you should give a try if you like post dystopian books but not as rough as others.

Great post apocalyptic read!!!

Loved this trilogy.
I still love the narrator in the first book but that is probably a personal preference.
For the third I was a tiny bit disappointed how some things were talked over rather quickly in order to achieve resolution but overall an amazing series!
The narrator in the 2nd and 3rd feels a little too monotone to me.

Conflict and Resolution in Post Apocalypse America

This final story of the Into the Outside trilogy is, without a doubt, the best of the series, and that's saying A LOT because I've thoroughly enjoyed every book. A little bit political thriller, a little bit love story, a serious look at not only life after the apocalypse but also the power and perils of big government, it's the kind of book that will keep you up reading long into the night.
I loved Isabella and Malcolm's unwavering love and Luke's youthful exuberance and I enjoyed the look at the extremes of what life after the apocalypse could be like.
Under the Mountain is dark and heavy in some places but it's overall message is affirmative and in the end we are reassured that for Isabella and her family, and for the United States itself, the post-apocalyptic universe is unfolding pretty much as it should.

Great Conclusion to a Great Story

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Under the Mountain: Into the Outside, Book 3 by Lynda Engler, and narrated by Ann Bumbak. This is book 3 of 3 and concludes the series. It was a very good story and I greatly enjoyed listening to it. This story is suitable for teens. It of course has some amount of violence based on the genre but it is not over the top. It has some veiled romance in it but is appropriate for the setting and it also is not over the top. Ann continued to do a great job with narration. She helped make the story come alive in my mind. I highly recommend this series.

Addicted

I really enjoyed this series as a whole.
I do wish they had been able to stick to one narrator for the three books.

The story itself was well thought out and I really enjoyed listening to it. I wish there were more books in this series

The end and a new beginning!

Excellent book series! Check this series out if your into post apocalyptic stories. The ending could actually lead to a book 4 if the author was inclined to do so. However you are not left hanging.

Book 3

Under the mountain the 3rd book in the series is just as good as the first 2 in the series . I will definitely be watching for any other books from the author. Narration is also very clear.

Bringing everything together

I really enjoyed the last book in this series - I like the fact that we got to meet new characters and see the world from their point of view, that many people were willing to stand up for the new humans and that change was made!

An Exciting and Rewarding Listen

In the final book of the trilogy the story threads are brought together as mutant and human combine to overthrow the tyranny that was manipulating the humans against the mutants. Great narration brought the adventure to life with well thought out characters and plot lines. The series has been a great listen and drew to a very satisfying conclusion.

Lost time is never found again.

The third and final book in the Into the Outside trilogy finds Malcolm and his family separated from his Isabella, the former, being mutants, scheduled to work on clean up dreams outside in the heavily radiation polluted lands until death, whilst Isabelle enjoys comfort within Mount Weather. But she finds unexpected allies in her determination to save her loved ones.

This surprising post apocalyptic series continues to explore people at their best - and theirworst. Slow moving, as far as actual fighting is concerned, it still holds thrills and tensions as well as providing an engaging storyline within a well developed world.
Ann Bumback's narration is, in tune with the whole book, a pleasant one, her voice soft, warm and slow, with mostly well differentiated voices, although sometimes lacking intonation in the connecting text. Unfortunately, however, when the action heats up, her narration fails to do so, leaving the listener with a feeling of disconnect which, added to the frequent, bizarre pauses within sentences (as in 'Quite literally to - pause - change - pause - the world', or 'As soon as she looked - pause - the pillls...' and many, many others) combined with often strange intonations, considerably diminished the power of the happenings.

A good series, though, with interesting world building and thrills along the way, this is a solid science fiction story which can be enjoyed by young and old alike.
