I came to Willow Bend, Wyoming with nothing but the clothes on my back and a secret.

It won’t be easy hiding morning sickness and swinging emotions as the live-in chef for a wealthy tech genius, but I’ll do whatever it takes to build a life for myself and my baby.

Because I’m in this alone.

For weeks I hold my breath, waiting for the moment I come face to face with the reclusive Titus Bradshaw and have to explain my… condition.

But when our paths finally cross late one night, I discover why he’s hidden away from the world.

His scars are deep and far-reaching. A reminder of what he lost. Who he couldn’t save.

I know I should keep my distance, but Titus’s calm demeanor and steady presence draw me in. Make me want things I can’t have. Wish for a life that won’t be mine.

Because my future and his past are incompatible.

He’s been through enough. I won’t make him suffer any more.

But someone else might. Someone who’s keeping a secret of their own.

And they’ll kill to protect it.

I went into this book blind without knowing anything about it and I really enjoyed it. The male main character is a computer security expert who has been hiding rather than healing from a trauma in his past. The female main character is pregnant, with the father no where in the picture, and she needs a job and a place to live. She takes a job as a personal chef with the MMC and it’s a slow burn as she slowly pulls him out of the shell he has built around himself.

The tropes you find in this book are slow burn, forced proximity, broken hero, accidental pregnancy, boss/employee, and protective hero, and some suspense.

This is done in duet narration by Maxine Mitchell and Austin Stone. Maxine is fantastic as always. Austin was really great for the main male character, but I wasn't a fan of the voices for the brothers. One sounded almost like a female character and the other one sounded like Batman.

Great story.
