Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Stop being a servant of the life you're living and become a creator of the world you want. Electrifying lessons in power, influence and persuasion to equalise women in an unequal world.

Why do so many women feel they're too much yet not enough? How can you feel 'good and mad' yet reluctant to speak up in a meeting or difficult conversation? What causes women to freeze at critical moments?

Kasia Urbaniak spent 17 years studying to become a Taoist nun. To foot the bill for her studies, she worked as a high-paid (and extremely successful) dominatrix in dungeons around New York City. What she learned in these two wildly different settings has turned into her life's work.

Unbound brings Urbaniak's unique teachings for women on speaking power, persuading others and navigating conflict to a mainstream audience for the first time. Part polemic, part practical, it opens women's eyes to why they frequently find it so difficult - personally, professionally and socially - to raise their voices, why they freeze in challenging circumstances and what they can do to change this. Too often women find themselves in the role of 'sub' when they need to be more 'dom' - in short they are paralysed by their Good Girl Syndrome and a deep-seated need to please everyone and anyone except themselves.

Unbound offers precise, practical instruction in how to stand in your power, find your voice and use it well. Part manual, part manifesto, it will help you cut through layers of self-censoring and self-doubt to go after what you truly want, and live your wildest, best and most satisfying life.

Powerful. Refreshing. Release the Bad Girl!

The first audio book I have truly enjoyed.
Plenty of powerful exercises.
I love Kassia's voice. The power, warmth, gentless and play of it. Perfectly bringing to life the qualities she encourages her readers to embody.

If you want to unfreeze in uncomfortable conversations and situations. This is a must.

Useful and eye opening

I found this interesting, eye opening and helpful for understanding power dynamics in conversation. For instance, I never thought about how many uncomfortable questions I am asked that I feel obligated to answer. My significant other who is a man either never gets asked such questions to begin with or automatically deflects them. The book focuses on honing how women communicate so they can more easily get what they really want from others. Only problem is it often is not women’s conditioning or communication skills that are the main obstacle to them getting what they want or having power. Nevertheless this is a useful book.

The ultimate guide to female empowerment. Read it!

This book took my breath away! Kasia Urbaniak made me look at power in a new and completely different way. "Unbound" is the ultimate guide to female empowerment that acknowledges all the systemic misogyny women face daily but doesn't slide into the lazy and predictable "all men are horrible and everything to do to with men sucks" territory. Instead, the author shows us how to become powerful, confident and strong by accepting accountability for our empowerment and working hard on ourselves.
I'll be buying this book for all the women I love.
Thank you, Kasia!

I Gave Up!

It's very rare that I give up on listening to a book, but I just had to.
I'm sure that there are some useful bits of information in this book, but waiting for them was pretty much unbearable, whilst listening to the awful and irritating narration.
Congratulations if you make it through!

Nonsense and good points mixed

There are some good points, but so much unnecessary babbling and repetition. It could be much more concise. There were some useful things, but also much that felt made-up. The book was read with some effect, but it was in my opinion exaggerated at times.

everyone should read this

Everyone should read this. at least once a year. it made my work a much happier place. after the first four to six chapters, I found a way to say things unsaid to someone accomplished in the art of non-listening.
Yes, it works even if you are a man. I wish more women would read it too.

A fascinating and enlightening read

I'm only two chapters in and felt I just had to review this book already - the content makes so much sense and is like the missing puzzle piece of information regarding human relationship dynamics. I especially love the definitions of Dominance and Submission...Urbaniak admits these are loaded terms, yes - but now that I'm reading this book, I can't go back to the way I thought of them before. I also can't wait to dive deeper into this book and explore the concepts practically during my exchanges with others. Many thanks to Urbaniak for writing this book, I intend to get the hard copy as well. Highly recommended!!! 👌 💯 👏

Inspiring and insightful

Love the practical exercises that allow for practice and embodying the knowledge that is shared. Powerful to connect to desire, own the possibilities held in desires and learn to confidently ask for things in a way that aligns body language with the words we speak.

GAVE ME SKILLS TO HAVE A CONVERSATION THAT JUST SAVED MY RELATIONSHIP.
