Twists and turns

If you have been reading this story, you will find many answers here, though I was disappointed in not learning the story of Vodelis at all through this series... teased so long ago but if it was revealed, I never noticed....

Despite that, so many adventures packed into this one! Quite a ride! This is the end of this cycle, I ylthink.... but I really want to return to our characters and all their little stories. I want to meet their future.

dude

i freaking knew that Alec would be related to the Archon in some way, although the Archon pulling out the jesus card seems a little bit weird seeing as mear minutes before Alec was conceived his parents where going at it like rabbits, I get the feeling that he simply blessed Alec's parents to ensure that Heara conceived and then granted Alec's soul the same powers he has, either that or he a Zeus meaning that Alec has not one but two biological fathers.

Horribly patriarchal drivel

Rarely am I so moved to write a bad review, but this series is sorely disappointed. The first two books sound promising and seem to have characters who will be defined in ways other than white hetero normative schemes, but after that it’s like the writer got bonked on the head and with the GOP’s insecurity stick. The writing is worse than the twilight series, Edward murmured, and with a story line that isn’t even interesting after the “elf girl” is merely relegated to the support role of “beloved” and the other female character is a wino with a surfer tool of a boyfriend. Don’t waste the credit.

Zero Growth

Throughout this series the main character has learned so much. Every book gives him a new power to master. in the final climactic battle you would expect him to wield a little bit of everything that he learned. Perhaps he uses that strange energy that turns him into a Crystal golem. Snatches a spear back up with the magnetic force that he learned as he climbed the chain to the House of doors. Combines his magic with his beloved for the final strike. Uses the gorilla tactics that he learned from Brutus. Block spells with that strange metal that has no magic properties and can't interact with magic. Finds a way to harness that nirvonic energy that was in the second book.... I could continue with all the things that he learned throughout the books but I think you get it.

**SPOILER**

Nah, let him fling around spells as if he has no idea what he's doing. The book, quite seriously, just has him throw out spells with zero regards to what he is doing until he is defeated. Instead of showing growth they Deus ex machina the ending.

Fancifully written and a decent performance

A few more surprises were unfolded in this story making it a worthy listen. The characters were very well developed even if some or a bit cliché. The conclusion was initially predictable but then the biggest surprise.
