Publisher's Summary

A young fleet officer and a Marine must stand together to defend their neighbors and their colony in this return to the powerful and action-packed Genesis Fleet saga from New York Times best-selling author Jack Campbell.

The recently colonized world of Glenlyon has learned that they're stronger when they stand with other star systems than they are on their own. But after helping their neighbor Kosatka against an invasion, Glenlyon has become a target. The aggressive star systems plan to neutralize Glenlyon before striking again.

An attack is launched against Glenlyon's orbital facility with forces too powerful for fleet officer Rob Geary to counter using their sole remaining destroyer, Saber. Mele Darcy's Marines must repel repeated assaults while their hacker tries to get into the enemy systems to give Saber a fighting chance.

To survive, Glenlyon needs more firepower, and the only source for that is their neighbor Kosatka or other star systems that have so far remained neutral. But Kosatka is still battling the remnants of the invasion forces on its own world, and if it sends its only remaining warship to help will be left undefended against another invasion. While Carmen Ochoa fights for the freedom of Kosatka, Lochan Nakamura must survive assassins as he tries to convince other worlds to join a seemingly hopeless struggle.

As star systems founded by people seeking freedom and autonomy, will Kosatka, Glenlyon and others be able to overcome deep suspicions of surrendering any authority to others? Will the free star systems stand together in a new Alliance, or fall alone?

Another trilogy

The epilogue was the rather light cherry on a weak whipped cream on a very avarage feelgood pie. Mr Rummel saved the experence for me. The trilogy gave me a kind of "St*r W*rs" prequel feel. A rushed , cash in before it spoils ending. Still, enjoyable if you're into the vibe. But alas, it didn't pan out for me like the previous books.

Excellent Series

Prequels are in vogue. This series is an excellent prequel series on the formation of the Alliance. I especially enjoyed the Epilogue.

pretty good

pretty good but it needed more action. the book was written too much from the situation room and not the battlefield.

Very Similar Story to Ascendant

I was very excited about this prequel to the Lost Fleet Series and the first book, Vanguard, did not disappoint. However, the second book, Ascendant seemed a little rushed compared to previous books but still set up the timeline and developments for future books - so I still enjoyed it even thought it lost a little something for me in the end.

Unfortunately, Triumphant seems to be a very similar story as Ascendant, but taking place in Glenn Lion as opposed to Kosatka and that really ruined the book for me. Every few chapters I waited from some new plot twist or a surprise change of events that would make it a unique story but it never happened.

The universe Mr. Campbell has created has be a great fictional escape and I strongly recommend his previous books, but this one just simple didn't do it for me.

perfect

I continue to grab each book and can't stop listening once I start. My wife has not only become accustomed to my sitting in the driveway for another hour listening for a place I can stop but now that she has caught me in the series I find her sometimes 'stuck' in the driveway. But as I said upon his first book I now must repeat...Mr Campbell you created this monster now given you have a need to eat and a small time to sleep you need to start typing, you have permission to avoid any other commands or duties including 'sweepers sweepers'. Until you permit me to read again, fair winds and following seas.

Nice Conclusion

I haven't listened to a lot of the other books the this series is the prequel to, but I have to say that I truly loved these characters. It was a good ride!

Top notch!

I really enjoyed the trilogy and encouraged me to take a look at the earlier books. There was good character development and the action was well done. I’d recommend it those interested in solid military sci-fi.

Horrible Narrator!

I love these books, own all of them and got into listening to them before bed. However, the guy reading this book seems like he is desperately trying to finish reading the entire book in under 3 hours with a gun to his head. Literally cant listen to it. Going to buy it for my paperwhite and ask for a refund.

love the backstory

If you're a Lost Fleet/Lost Stars fan, this is a great boo and series. it goes back to the Republic's origin story. And the Epilogue is well epic.

Just love the series

Got to be honest, sad it came to end. Now I have to wait another year for the story to continue.
It's a positive story in a world that really needs positivity!

I really hope there's more!

An exceptional read, very well delivered.

When our heroes have to defend their own home from certain defeat, will the peoples they fought to save come to their aid...

I have loved all of the Lost Fleet, Lost Stars and Genesis Fleet books. This keeps that love alive and well. I do hope there are more of these early stories. There are plenty of places to go. How will the crew of D11 rebuild and refit? What support will the politician bring back from Old Earth? Give me one more please!
