A Friends to Lover romance like you’ve never seen before…

Cari

Patrick is my friend. My best friend. He’s every good girl’s dream come true. Funny, sweet and holy-hell hot. Perfect.

So what’s the problem?

I’m far from perfect and I’m no one’s idea of a good girl.

I know that, but I’ve wanted Patrick ever since the first night we met. Ever since I kissed him and…well, did decidedly ungood-girl things to him in the front seat of his car. The same night he gently but firmly shut me down completely with a it was nice to meet you, Cari.

I know he’s out of my league, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting him. And if the way he looks at me when he thinks no one is paying attention is any indicator, he wants me too.

But he’ll never make a move on me. Not unless I make him. That’s what my friend Tess says. She thinks all Patrick needs is a little push. I think she might be right.

The last thing I expected was for him to push back.

Patrick

Cari is my friend. My best friend. She’s the perfect male fantasy come to life. Talented, smart and so damn beautiful that when she’s around, I can’t seem to look at anyone else. Perfect.

So, what’s the problem?

I’m a nice guy and we all know where nice guys finish. Dead last.

I’ve wanted Cari ever since the first night we met. The night she kissed me. Touched me in ways that made it hard for me to think clearly. But she was drunk and just broken up with her douchebag boyfriend—as much as I wanted her, I couldn’t take advantage of her that way.

Because I'm a nice guy, remember?

Even though it’s been years since that night and know she’s moved on, I can’t stop thinking about her. About that night. How good she tasted. How good she felt.

But we’re friends now. Best friends. Roommates.

And it’s driving me absolutely insane.

Pushing Patrick is book one in The Gilroy Clan. Patrick and Cari's story concludes in book two, Claiming Cari.

Will they, won’t they. Miscommunications. Insecurity. Manipulation. This romance is not a heartwarming read and it ends without the main characters getting together. A total cliffhanger. I’m not sure I’ll continue the series, as I didn’t really like the guy. Felt unresolved at the end.

I’m not usually one for super angsty romance, so when a super angsty story pulls me in, keeps me engaged, and refuses to let go, I know it’s going to become a fast favorite. Megyn Ward’s Pushing Patrick is exactly that book!

Patrick and Cari kick off the Gilroy Clan series in spectacular fashion. The spice level is off the charts, the passion of the characters and their relationship hits hard and keeps on hitting, and the circumstances and situations they live through are intense and emotional. Ward seamlessly weaves in elements of humor, desire, deep friendships, trepidation, and solace, introducing characters who build a strong foundation for not only Cari and Patrick’s relationship, but the relationships within and surrounding the Gilroy family.

Pushing Patrick is part one of the duet with Claiming Cari, and Pushing Patrick does end on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. It is so absolutely worth reading and continuing with the series. Their eventual HEA is stunning and worth all the angst the author and characters put the reader through. Have tissues handy throughout. And yes, it is ok to yell at certain characters. They need it. They earned it. They deserve it. And they can handle it. They brought it on themselves, to be honest. And yes, to me that is a clear sign of a well-written story with characters you can sink your every emotion into.

The audiobooks for both Pushing Patrick and Claiming Cari are incredible. The narrators capture the characters perfectly, creating distinct voices and personalities for each character they read. Their cadence and pacing is top-notch as well. I oftentimes found myself sitting in my driveway after a long day, reluctant to turn off the story and return to my regular scheduled programming (aka life). When narration makes you feel like you are immersed in the story, that is audiobook perfection.

The other thing Ward does brilliantly is build her supporting characters to a level where I need their stories. It’s beyond wanting to know what their deal is—it’s a visceral need to have that level of closure that will only come from finishing every book in the series. And I fully intend to do just that.

Holy Hotness!

1st of all I don't like a cliffhanger. For me there was too much sex and not enough story. If this helps anyone there was of the story I liked

I was enjoying the story until it ended without a conclusion, which is a shame because despite some questionable accents from the narrators, they did a very good job breathing life into this half story.

Ends on a cliffhanger
