Publisher's summary

The world is on the cusp of destruction as Mordecai’s power grows beyond the limits of his own control, yet most of the powers that rule the world are oblivious. The only hope of salvaging their civilization lies with his children, but they have been scattered and branded outlaws. Meanwhile Tyrion continues to march toward his own goals, heedless of whether they will help or harm their efforts to stop the apocalypse, as even the Queen begins to doubt the archmage’s sanity.

Mordecai is trapped by his own strength, a power too great to wield. Can his children stop the end of everything, even if it means sacrificing their father?

A satisfying end

The ending of Mordecai's tale was masterfully done. I was thrilled that unlike many series endings, it left little in terms of questions and no story left to tell. I'm a large bearded man that cried like a baby at the end, and realized I looked stupid. I guess stupid never dies.
Damn you Mordecai.

Excuse my languange

First I must say I drive trucks Audible has become a mental refuge of sorts. I love fantasy books something I discovered this as an adult . I started this story with embers the very beginning, In my Chad voice F U Michael G I felt every emotion possible as a whole that was a masterpiece of a story. I laughed I cried I cringed I yelled outloud my heart was broken when Penny died. Thank you!

book series start off good and goes downhill

The author has a bad habit of writing contradictions to his previous works, and this series is the pinnacle example of such. I understand that sometimes there is a need to bend the rules and logic you had previously put in place but here he just destroys them. SPOILERS AHEAD For instance previously when someone shield had been destroyed the characters would either lose consciousness or be barley able to function because of feedback. but by the end of this series that is merely a inconvenience. The protagonist almost died at the start of the series because feedback prevented him from using his abilities (which didn't make sense since his archimage abilities shouldn't have been effected). later on in the series another character was nearly killed by multiple powerful attacked that not only destroyed their shields(causing the aforementioned feedback) but they also had several holes blown into their bodies. Not only were they able to use arch mage abilities to heal themselves they were also able to use their normal mage abilities despite massive injuries and the feedback. Another character suffered the same injuries and despite not being a arch mage they were able to recover and fight back without any apparent disadvantages. Just one of many examples of the inconsistent writing

Simply, Amazing.

I have listened through this entire series 3 times over, from Blacksmiths son to Embers of Illeniel, and now this, I have never been so pulled into a series as hard and fast as I have with this one, this will forever be my all time favorite series. Manning has such a way with bringing characters to life and his world is rich with flavor and energy, so much so that I'd honestly compare myself to Marcus after the lady of the evening star left him, Empty. There will never be another series that's has made me cry, laugh, and feel triumphant as these books have done, so in a sense I curse you Mr. Manning and also thank you for bringing such an amazing world to life and allowing my imagination run wild and feel like a kid again.

I loved it

The ending made me cry.
the revelation about Tyrion was very satisfying. He was not Evil overall.
Loved it. bringing back all characters, from previous storylines was amazing.
I am simultaneously happy and sad for Mordecai. I'm very conflicted about his kids ending. This book was enjoyable to read.

Way Too Farcial but Unconditionally Ends Series

Michael G. Manning adds new entities and re-introduces some previous ones using an overabundance of surreal manifestations but, hey, he did an excellent job in closing open issues in a literary manner not often used even in fantasies.

Alex Wyndham continued with his outstanding narrating performance even given some of the more absurd story arcs.

Absolutely loved this

This book closes out the storyline of Mordecai and his descendants in such a riveting and beautiful way! I loved each series as they built the story. Highly recommend all of the series in order to experience Mordecai from his beginning as a young lad to his life as a husband, father, protector , protector, and arch mage. Thank you for the adventure! This was definitely one of if not the favorite storylines of all time!

Masterful end to an extraordinary story

I have been reading Michael work for some years beginning with The Blacksmiths Son. So it’s sad to see the completion of Mordecai’s storyAlex Wyndham has given yet another great performance complementing the story pace. What an Ending!
