Nick Bostrom lays the foundation for understanding the future of humanity and intelligent life. The human brain has some capabilities that the brains of other animals lack. It is to these distinctive capabilities that our species owes its dominant position. If machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence could become extremely powerful - possibly beyond our control.

Story
On May 31, 2014, in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls attempted to stab their classmate to death. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier’s violence was extreme, but what seemed even more frightening was that they committed their crime under the influence of a figure born by the internet: the so-called “Slenderman”. Yet the even more urgent aspect of the story, that the children involved suffered from undiagnosed mental illnesses, often went overlooked in coverage of the case.

Run a Google search for “black girls” - what will you find? “Big Booty” and other sexually explicit terms are likely to come up as top search terms. But, if you type in “white girls”, the results are radically different. The suggested porn sites and un-moderated discussions about “why black women are so sassy” or “why black women are so angry” presents a disturbing portrait of black womanhood in modern society. In Algorithms of Oppression, Safiya Umoja Noble challenges the idea that search engines like Google offer an equal playing field for all forms of ideas, identities, and activities.

Story
Artificial intelligence does the seemingly impossible - driving cars, trading stocks, and teaching children. But facing the sea change that AI will bring can be paralyzing. How should companies set strategies, governments design policies, and people plan their lives for a world so different from what we know? In Prediction Machines, three eminent economists recast the rise of AI as a drop in the cost of prediction. With this single, masterful stroke, they lift the curtain on the AI-is-magic hype and show how basic tools from economics provide clarity about the AI revolution and a basis for action by CEOs, managers, policy makers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

Superintelligence asks the questions: What happens when machines surpass humans in general intelligence? Will artificial agents save or destroy us? Nick Bostrom lays the foundation for understanding the future of humanity and intelligent life. The human brain has some capabilities that the brains of other animals lack. It is to these distinctive capabilities that our species owes its dominant position. If machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence could become extremely powerful - possibly beyond our control.

Fascinating exploration of scary technology!
What an eye-opening exploration of AI that is both exciting and scary as heck! This new technology has so much in common with the internet when it came out in the 80's. Just as the internet has opened a whole new world to us in so many ways, AI can do enormous good or great harm. From helping to predict where forest fires and flooding might occur to improving modern-day healthcare as well as opening a whole new world in robotics (think self-driving cars). Then there is the darker side of this technology (voice cloning, deep fakes, and cheating on important exams and tests of competency). It's like a gun...it can help save lives or be used to commit crimes. It all depends on the user. I honestly wonder if we have the wisdom to use this technology. Scary and wonderful. Worth listening to!

Clear Concise & Fascinating
This audiobook is not a technical reference book on AI. Instead, it is a clear and concise explanation of what it is from various perspectives, what AI products are out there now and how AI is used in almost every area of life from church services to sports betting, to medicine to education and on and on. The categories using AI defined in this book are almost endless. The author defines the benefits and dangers associated with AI whether proven or feared. The projected future of AI is discussed, as well as the fear of job loss from it. I thoroughly enjoyed listening and never got bored. I now have a greater understanding of what AI is and how it is used whether in text, voice or imaging. A really informative book, not to be missed if you are living in today's world!

Embrace the future
“tomorrow's artificial intelligence: a futurist’s guide to understanding and harnessing ai technology” is truly a compendium of the must-know knowledge of the technological advances that our world is becoming more and more in the grasp of.
While some fear the change, the are a plethora of individuals out there that are taking the bull by the horns, as it were, and are embracing and thriving from technological marvels that are becoming more and more at our fingertips. And Kris Ball is one of them
From embracing the future of employment, to apocalyptic fears, to the sci-fi-like potential of our future-selves, this books covered it all.
Whereas, I have recently consumed a lot of audiobooks that focus on how we can use AI to benefit in different areas of our lives (entrepreunership, for example), this book is more of a comprehensive overview of the exciting horizon in front of us, which is probably my favorite element of this title.

Pretty cool book
My favorite thing about this book is that the topics were sorted into specifics and discussed. For example: Ai in the military, logistics, relationships, and many more. It made the book more tangible instead of the normal overzealous statements about AI takes over the world. This was thought provoking and gave me some ideas and strategies of where to put time and resources.
