Story
Only a handful of people in the world know that mankind's magic comes from a living creature, and it is a refugee from another universe. The Power showed up here in the 1850s because it was running from something. Now it is 1933, and the Power's hiding place has been discovered by a killer. It is a predator that eats magic and leaves destroyed worlds in its wake. Earth is next. Former private eye Jake Sullivan knows the score. The problem is, hardly anyone believes him.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

A Few More Hours
The “Grimnoir Chronicles” continues; for a few more hours at least, and if you ever wondered what happened to some of your favorite characters, like Sally Faye, Jake Sullivan and the Iron Guard Tory, then Larry Correia’s new short story, “Tokyo Raiders,” will answer some of those questions. The story takes place about twenty years after, “Warbound,” and a giant summoned demon, which reminded me of Godzilla, attacks Japan, of course, and Joe Sullivan, the son of Jake and Origami must join forces with the Iron Guard Toru, now general of Japan to help defeat this threat. It’s a quick but exciting listen with plenty of magic and technical marvels by the “cogs;” everything you would want in a Grimnoir story.
Bronson Pinchot is terrific as the narrator; as usual.
Let’s hope there are more, and longer, stories to come.

…..The Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend.....
Now twenty years after WARBOUND we learn, in passing, what Francis and Fae are up to. The son of Jake and Origami joins forces with the Imperium to defeat a foe that could threaten the world if not stopped on the Island. Knowing that Larry Correia is still playing in the Grimnoir world leaves hope for a follow-up novel in the future. This little teaser makes me want more.

Larry decides to write a Kaiju Story!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Why wouldn't you recommend this book to a friend? This continues in the fantastic grimnoir world, and expands on the characters you have grown attached to.
What other book might you compare Tokyo Raider to and why?
Well if you're here you should have already read Hard Magic, Spellbound, and Warbound. If you haven't read those 3 yet, do not pass go, do not collect $200 and send yourself back to Hard Magic. If you want a recommendation outside of the Grimnoir world, I would say Fated from the Alex Verus series. The battle details are not as rich, but it's equally as funny and sarcastic.
What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Bronson does a really good job of giving the characters well uniqueness. Thus I am able to tell from the tone in his voice, who is speaking without him having to do the "said Joe".
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was a fast paced romp through giant robot vs. giant demon lizard. A little like Pacific Rim crosses into the Grimnoir world. To say it was fun is an understatement. It was a wild romp. I can only hope Larry decides to write another full Grimnoir trilogy.
Any additional comments?

Love Larry Correia
Would you listen to Tokyo Raider again? Why?
I have all of Larry Corriea's audio books and have listened to them more than once. All the narrators of every book have been great and the stories are usually nonstop action.
Who was your favorite character and why?
While Joe is helping the Japanese try to fight the Russian Deacon, he blasts the USA national anthem from the speakers of the robot he's working .....To the dismay of the Japanese ......
What about Bronson Pinchot’s performance did you like?
Bronson Pinchot is a fantastic narrator, when I see that he's doing a narration, I almost always listen to see if I think I'd want to get that book. He can do every voice and accent and emotions. I enjoy his narrations very much...one of my top 10
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was very easy to do because it was just about an hour.
Any additional comments?
Anytime I see Larry Corriea has a new book available I automatically get it, I've never been disappointed ever. One of my favorite narrators with one of my favorite authors....how awesome is that. .

The Grim Noir meets Pacific Rim
Jake Sullivans's son piloting a giant freaking robot aginst a giant demon in the Grim Noir universe! If you are a fan of the series that should be enough to convince you to buy the story. I usually don't like short stories but this is a good one. My only complaint is that it could have been a whole novel. I will say that while it is a stand alone novel you won't get as much out of it if you haven't read the previous books in the Grim Noir series. As usual Bronson Pinchot knocks it out of the ball park. The guy is phenomenal as a narrarator. You definitely should give this one a listen.

Jake's & Origami's Son.
20 or so years later Jake and Origami have a son who is just like his dad. Of course this will cause him to get into trouble. So Joe goes to Tokyo to fight Godzilla in the Pacific Rim style. So while not new material Larry Correia still makes me laugh. And while I wait for more books to come out from either the Grimnoir or the Monster Hunter series, this is a nice taste to keep me wanting more. Same narrator as the other Grimnoir series and he does an awesome job.

It was great to come back to Chronicles, even this was a short episode. Larry continues to write about stuff I would never consider interesting, and he does it in a brilliant way. Ouch! This sucked...
America goes to help Japan against the Russians is the basic premise of the story. The American character is gung-ho, disrespecting all Japanese characters, who are made out to be untrustworthy. Communism is symbolically destroyed by the end of the story. The paralells with WW2 are screamingly obvious. This is a fantasy story for right-wing Americans and I hated every word of it.
