Publisher's summary

In Tessa Dare's dazzling new trilogy, the men of the Stud Club live and play by their own rules - until passion changes the game.

The bastard son of a nobleman, Julian Bellamy is now polished to perfection, enthralling the town with wit and charm while clandestinely plotting to ruin the lords, ravish the ladies, and have the last laugh on a society that once spurned him. But after meeting Leo Chatwick, a decent man and founder of an elite gentlemen's club, and Lily, Leo's enchanting sister, Julian reconsiders his wild ways. And when Leo's tragic murder demands that Julian hunt for justice, he vows to see the woman he secretly loves married to a man of her own class.

Lily, however, has a very different husband in mind. She's loved Julian forever, adores the man beneath the rakish façade, and wants to savor the delicious attraction they share - as his wife. His insistence on marrying her off only reinforces her intent to prove that he is the only man for her. Obsessed with catching a killer, Julian sinks back to the gutters of his youth, forcing Lily to reach out with a sweet, reckless passion Julian can't resist. Can her desire for a scoundrel save them both - or will dangerous secrets threaten more than their tender love?

Steamy & Interesting

We finally get to hear Lily & Julian's story.....so I wanted a quick start - seamed to me it was a bit slow moving at first. Once it got going it moved quickly and really kept my interest. This story is full of twists and turns and lots of really steamy love scenes.
Landor does an amazing job (as always) and her "parrot" voice is hilarious!!!

The epilogue was nice - tied it all up in a neat little bow.

Worth a credit - but not for the faint of heart - there are plenty descriptive sex scenes.

Disappointing

What would have made Three Nights with a Scoundrel better?

More action would have been nice. Too much description and repetition. The big mystery was hinted at so much, the reader has it figured out early on. Plus the Leo side-story theme has been done over and over in this genre.

Would you ever listen to anything by Tessa Dare again?

Definitely. I love most all of the books by her that I have read.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scenes with the bird were good.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

Would like to see more of the issues covered that most people dealt with back in the 18th and 19th centuries as opposed to filtering in the issues of the 20th and 21st centuries (our issues). After all, my whole point in reading/listening to historical fiction is to learn about life and people and their experiences back then. I deal with everything else the rest of the time.

not my favorite

I sure liked the other two in this series better. things just seemed a little too convenient, at the end. and the mine I heard the Seinfeld quote, that sealed it for me. meh.

Three Nights with a Mystery

Rosalyn Landor did an excellent job with narrating,I was unsure at first because the first book of the trilogy had an awesome narrator aswell,so wasn't sure how this one would measure up,but she did just as awesome with each character.Unfortunately this book wasn't as good"romantically "as the first, plenty of plots and mystery though.I read the second book,it too was more plot and mystery more than romance,so by far..the first of the trilogy was the best of the three, not only a good story but alot of very steamy moments.I enjoyed all three books though and hearing how the three most unlikely men to become friends became more like family to eachother instead.Great books,Tessa is a great Romance writer, one of my favorites.

Disappointed - tedious.

I love some of Tessa Dares books - this is not one of them. The story circles around and back going no where for 10 hours. I stopped listening then tried again just to finish the thing. The characters are weak and annoying. I was glad when it was finally over.

An incredible disappointment

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I am writing this review at the 30% mark, but I can't go on much further. I stopped at a scene where the hero gives the heroine a talking parrot. The heroine is unable to hear (deaf), so she can't hear what the parrot is saying. She even has trouble lip-reading if people talk too fast. I just can't figure out how Tessa Dare wrote this book. This scene is a mockery of people that are hearing impaired and it's just cruel. I am so disgusted with it that I stopped reading and will not continue.
I think what would have made this better would be an author that truly understands persons with disabilities, instead of using it as a plot vehicle. If the author was a little more sensitive, the story would have been better.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Nothing from Tessa Dare. I loved her books, but after this experience I will not listen to another of her one.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Rosalyn Landor?

I really don't like Rosalyn Landor. She makes the male voices seem older and very stuffy. I took a chance on this book, as I have stopped purchasing books narrated by Rosalyn landor. I should have stuck with my previous philosophy. She has narrated some series I would love to listen to, but have to avoid them. I jjust made a mistake purchasing this book.
My 3 favorites are Susan duerdan, Carolyn Morris and Ashford McNabb. Any of those narrators would have been better, but nothing could really save this novel.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I thought some of the lines were funny, but Rosalyn Landor's stiff / serious delivery undermines the humour. She does not have the voice to express irony, or sarcasim, so a lot of that was lost.

Any additional comments?

I kept debating whether to buy this or not. I read the first book and wanted to continue, even against my better judgement. I hate to give up on a series, but I have stopped here...1/3 of the way through the second book. That's enough of the "Stud Club".

Good, but not as enjoyable as others by TD

This book just seemed a little all over the place for me. There were so many outside things going on. It felt difficult to concentrate on the main characters. I persevered, because, well, it’s Tessa dare. However, of all the books I’ve read of hers, and I’ve nearly read them all. This probably ranks as my least favorite.

Very happy I read this book

I saw the reviews where a lot of people didn’t like the book but I really enjoyed the story. Julian was a complex character whose story is slowly revealed as the book progresses. I loved Lily, she’s a gentle but strong love interest for Julian, what a great love story for them. I actually tested up a couple of times.
Enjoy!

This one was a little different, but we'll worth

Whatever Tessa authors is delightful. Well worth the read or listening.. I plan to listen again. I have to occupy my time until Bride Bet comes out. But, I highly recommend this novel. Anticipation, is the subtle for this one.

best of the three books

while i found the previous two books lingering and frustrating as the stories unfolded - this one was perfection. twists and turns that were believable and heartfelt. I actually became emotional toward the end. full circle at last. glad I read the series.

Another absolute winner from Tessa Dare

Compelling and empathetic storyline, interesting and meaty. I would never have guessed the outcome.
The delivery of this audio version by Rosalyn Landor was faultless and superb! Highly recommended.

Well, anyone can produce a duffer

What a disappointment! A tedious, repetitive, turgid, turkey of a story. Rescued only by the excellent Rosalyn Landor. Tessa Dare is capable of brilliant characters, witty repartee and sparkling stories. This is just not an example of it.

Relaxed regency romance with a little twist at the end

A good listening experience with performance not just narration. Characters you can link with in the stories progress

Couldn't Finish

I liked the start of this book and had high hopes, but the story withered and suddenly I wasn't able to overlook the kindergarten teacher reading it to me. I wouldn't recommend.
