good story and narrator not my favorite but good

I like stories about sex workers getting their proper due. this has a great ending without her having to apologize for being a sex worker.

Yes. I didn't think I was going to like this book, but I ended up loving it. The heroine isn't your typical lead, she's worldly, rich and smart.

Would you ever listen to anything by Emma Locke again?

For me, this book was simply fantastic. I love that the characters don't follow the normal rules. They sometimes even shock themselves.

Endearing!

Wonderful story about two people coming together despite differences. Thoughtfully worded story about learning that love shouldn't be confined by social status. The characters are well written and the hero of the storylines to change his ways, which is a good thing. I love stories like this because not everything is so black and white.

What did you love best about The Trouble with Being Wicked?

This story is a great opportunity to watch a truly uptight and judgmental jerk be transformed through the power of love and truth. Ash has spent his whole life laboring under incorrect assumptions about his parents' murder-suicide. He judged his actions and those of his sisters and assumed the worst about their prospects for a good life in proper society. Celeste has tired of being London's most successful demimonde and seeks a quiet and private life in the country, using her fortune to help others and do good on her own terms. Falling in love (with an entirely "inappropriate" woman) isn't enough to break down Ash's defenses and make him a better man. Only when he learns and accepts the truth does he find a way to accept the choices of those near and dear to him and gain the courage to choose kindness and become the person he wants to be.

Excellent Narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook to friends. I love the story (although the hero is a bit of an idiot -- just makes you love him) and the narration is done wonderfully.

What did you like best about this story?

While it was a highly unlikely occurrence for that time period -- especially as it involved a whole aristocratic family -- I loved that the story was about love -- even outside your societal class.

What about Marian Hussey’s performance did you like?

She had, of course, the perfect accent for the delivery -- ENGLISH!!! However, she paced the delivery excellently and portrayed the different characters very well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Actually -- I did listen to this book all in one sitting. Can you believe it!!! God bless those little listening devices that you can just stick in a pocket and listen while you walk on the treadmill, clean house, etc.

Full of negativity

Got tired of male protagonist's disapproval. Narrator also had a disapproving tone throughout her reading.

Fantastic Narration! 2 star story at best.

Where to start? I am not a big fan of a heroine being a courtesan and that is what she was. This book would have been a better story had Celeste not been one and her past was something different. It's hard to like a book with the heroine is basically a hooker. She was a great character and the author sort of ruined it. Sorry.

The hero, Ash was a bit too stuffy and indecisive. His character needed something, he was sort of dull to be honest. His best friend Montborne was a better character for sure.

The chemistry was good to a point but felt a bit forced from the beginning. There were a couple of hot and steamy sex scenes that were very well written though, so there is that.

Oh, I did love his sisters though, they were great.

As for the narration, it was absolutely fantastic! I am a huge fan of Marian Hussey! Love her. All the men sound like men, sexy men at that. The women have lovely voices and everyone gets their own distinct voice. She reads with emotion and at a perfect speed. She has a very nice reading voice.
