Publisher's summary

Big Little Lies meets One Plus One in this story of three women neighbors looking for a fresh start, and the love affairs, rivalries, and scandals found on the other side of the white picket fence.

One happy street. Three pretty houses. So many lies.

Martha used to be a force of nature: calm, collected, and in charge. But since moving her husband and two daughters to Dublin under sudden and mysterious circumstances, she can't seem to find her footing. Robin was the "it" girl in school, destined for success. Now she's back at her parents' with her four-year-old son, vowing that her ne'er-do-well ex is out of the picture for good. Edie has everything she could want, apart from a baby, and the acceptance of her new neighbors. She longs to be one of the girls and to figure out why her perfect husband seems to be avoiding their perfect future. Three women looking for a fresh start on idyllic Pine Road. Their friendship will change their lives and reveal secrets they never imagined.

Critic reviews

“This book blew me away. I read it over two evenings and am now bereft without that colorful cast in my life. Liane Moriarty meets Maeve Binchy meets Marian Keyes. I laughed, I cried, I shuddered, I was agog. I loved Edie and Martha and Robin, but the neighborhood ladies and their Whatsapp chats had me in stitches. Shortall has captured an international story in a very recognizably domestic setting. This book is going to knock people's socks off.” (Jo Spain, author of The Confession)

"Within a few pages I felt like the newest neighbor on Pine Road, where the women are unique, interesting...and have a lot of secrets. I didn't want to put it down until I knew all of them! By the end, these women felt like friends...or frenemies." (Samantha Downing, USA Today best-selling author of My Lovely Wife)

“This book is beautifully written with warm, complex characters. A skillfully woven and unpredictable story - it drew me in effortlessly, and by the end I felt as though I lived on Pine Road myself. A wonderfully satisfying read.” (Emma Rous, author of The Au Pair)

Great narration and funny story

I am a fan of liane moriarty and this type of story reminds me of her. One part humor one part mystery one part drama. A fun and easy listen.

A few great central characters

This story centered around a few key characters and their stories held it together. But other names were randomly incorporated with little relevance to what was going on. Ignore them and you’ll keep with the main narrative.

Fun Fiction

This was a cute story that had a few twists and turns. I wouldn’t call it a mystery, more of a fictional story.
