The Hate U Give meets Just Mercy in this unflinching yet uplifting first novel that explores the racist injustices in the American justice system.
Every week, seventeen-year-old Tracy Beaumont writes letters to Innocence X, asking the organization to help her father, an innocent Black man on death row. After seven years, Tracy is running out of time--her dad has only 267 days left. Then the unthinkable happens. The police arrive in the night, and Tracy's older brother, Jamal, goes from being a bright, promising track star to a "thug" on the run, accused of killing a white girl. Determined to save her brother, Tracy investigates what really happened between Jamal and Angela down at the Pike. But will Tracy and her family survive the uncovering of the skeletons of their Texas town's racist history that still haunt the present?
Fans of Nic Stone, Tiffany D. Jackson, and Jason Reynolds won't want to miss this provocative and gripping debut.

A story everyone should read!!

As I read This Is My America, I fell deep into a story that is very close to my heart. Close to my mission—to uplift Black voices and continue to strive to uncover the unfair and Injustice of Black men.
Kim Johnson gives an unapologetic glimpse into the lives of what America really looks like to Black men—to their families they leave behind.
I loved the plot, descriptive setting, sensory details throughout, and the realistic dialogue between realistic characters.
The author did a wonderful. No FANTASTIC job in pulling me in as a reader as if I was watching a movie—or in most Black homes, watching the 7:00 local news. I can’t say enough of the emotions I felt inside, but what I can say is this... Stories like this needs to be told. We have to change the narrative and continue to stand in solidarity to end Injustice for all.
