The latest groundbreaking tome from Tim Ferriss, the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The 4-Hour Workweek. For the last two years, I've interviewed more than 200 world-class performers for my podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show. The guests range from super celebs (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.) and athletes (icons of powerlifting, gymnastics, surfing, etc.) to legendary Special Operations commanders and black-market biochemists. For most of my guests, it’s the first time they’ve agreed to a two-to-three-hour interview.

Publisher's Summary
The 13 Steps to Riches described in this audiobook offer the shortest dependable philosophy of individual achievement ever presented for the benefit of the man or woman who is searching for a definite goal in life. It comes directly from the experiences of hundreds of America's most successful men.
Hill interviewed 504 people, including Ford, Wrigley, Wanamaker, Eastman, Rockefeller, Edison, Woolworth, Darrow, Burbank, Morgan, Firestone, and three United States presidents. The process of conducting these interviews required an investment of 20 years of Napoleon Hill's life.
This audiobook will guide many to success, and has sold millions of printed copies for nearly three quarters of a century. Yes, one can gather from the title that the starting place for wealth is in a person's thoughts - and this title is the source for most of today's motivational speakers. So why not go back to the original source?

LET ME SAVE YOU TIME AND A CREDIT
this book is trying to teach you that any clearly defined goal that a person is willing to work to and achieve, regardless of failure can be achieved. that if you have a clear-cut goal to get what you want, and you never stop pursuing it and you maintain the attitude that you will be successful, you will be successful. However, as I have listened to this book, I have found that more than 50% of it is the book patting itself on the back for being wonderful, rather than getting to the point.

Classic Book, 21st Century Version Better
Let's get something straight - TaGR is not a magic book. I've seen so many reviews with "don't alter the original, don't change it, don't add new content" that I was afraid of buying any other version. I have already read the book in paperback so this came as the next natural choice.
TaGR (this version) is good but it's not perfect. The naration sometimes it's not very exciting and it can get lost in the background. The story focuses on the TaGR methodology which is fine but it's sometimes alienating to hear examples from 75 years ago. The lenght is way too big especially since the principles are not so many.
So I enjoyed this purchase. However, I enjoy a lot more my copy of the 21st century edition. It's far better edited, the sound quality seems better (it's totally subjective) and it's far more relatable than to the classic.
Therefore, if you want TaGR on steroids, look for the latest version. It's far longer but it's worth it.

The Original is Always the Best
If you have read or listened to other versions of Think and Grow Rich you need to listen to this one too. It is the original 1938 text. It is longer than most other editions but, it’s worth it. There are whole sections of this book that are left out of other versions. And I found those sections to be quite valuable. As for the narrator – I thought he was fine. His delivery allowed me to add whatever color I needed to as I digested the information

Dated, and doesnt really lend itself to audio
This is somewhat of a time capsule, it's a self help book written in the aftermath of the great depression. There are some nuggets that are detailed and I found some of the historical perspectives to be interesting, but overall it really didn't work, particularly as an audio book. There were exhaustive lists throughout the book - for example the 28 primary reasons people don't succeed, which made following the book a challenge. It is obviously a classic to have lasted this long, it just didn't work for me.

Love the content...but not the way the audiobook is organized.
The chapters don't start and end with the chapters of the audiobook. The book has are chapters that start and end at times in the middle of a chapter in the audiobook. There were times I wanted to go back and listen to a chapter again...but it would take me a while to track it back down. The book itself I truly enjoyed and will listen to or read again.

Liked it very much!
After reading other reviews I thought that to buy this particular version of the book is a bad idea. But I bought it anyway, because I've read good reviews about it on the other websites. And I'm NOT sorry at all...
The narration is good. I've had no problems listening or understanding ANY part of this book.
The book itself is Excellent! Considering that it was written more then half a century ago, it still presents the idea that is valid and useful today.
The well marketed book "The Secret" is nothing more then a newer and much shorter version of this same book. The only difference is that "The Secret" presents you information openly (because it published today), and "Think and Grow Rich" pushes you toward the same idea without naming it (because it was published "back then", and the author probably didn't liked the idea of spending the rest of his life in mental institution).
Would recommend this book to anyone who wants to take control of his/her life. Listen to it it'll do you good (or in the worst case - nothing at all).

It's a must.
The reason this book remains a top seller is because it is amazing. I read it in paperback many years ago and loved it. When I found that there was an "original manuscript" I was intrigued. It is interesting to see what was left out and well worth the time spent. I feel like I have gotten much more out of it this time.
The narration is nicely done. Regarding the first reviewer's comment. The narrator is using the correct Scottish pronunciation of Mr. Carnegie's name.

Part one of this download is for me the best. Great case studies on achievement and how to face down the monsters that haunt us all. If you aren't familiar with this work then today is a great day for you to start.

Very instructive, but there is more!
As ever Napoleon Hill's ability to breakdown complex leadership principles is second to none. That said, much of the content comes from his earlier book "The Law of Success". In my opinion it is that earlier book that is the 5 star knock out punch. So in closing this book is certainly outstanding value - rich in content and practical guidance, but "The Law of Success" carries that bit more. The challenge is that there are one or two themes covered in greater detail in this book. If advising I would probably suggest listening to this book first, then the "Law of Success" afterwards to avoid any anti-climax. As the earlier book is simply out of this world brilliant.

There's better available
A very dull listen from start to finish. I persevered purely due to the popularity of this book but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Although the fundamental message of the book is good (mind over matter/determination/not giving up etc) I did not learn anything meaningful. At one point the author explains the reason doctors don't get sick is because they do not fear illness, and the reason men go bald is because they wear hats that block circulation to their head and this is also why women do not go bald as they wear bigger hats - absolute nonsense.
If you are interested in building the right mindset for business and accumulating wealth you would be far better off listening to the likes of The Richest Man in Babylon or Rich Dad Poor Dad. If you want to understand the true mindset of the rich (which is what this book aims to do) then you would be better off with Secrets of the Millionaire Mind or The Millionaire Next Door.
As you can see I've read a number of books in this genre and this book would come bottom of the list.

A business classic!
This book is an absolutely fantastic look into the what people now call the ?millionaire mindset?. The book is the combination of 20 years of studying some of the greatest inventors, investors and Business men of the time and in fact the century, people like Henry Ford, Alexander Bell, Thomas Edison, and Andrew Carnegie. It was actually Andrew Carnegie who encouraged Hill to write the book and study the great minds of their time.
The book goes through topics such as Imagination and discusses how once a person can imagine something on ones mind then it is possible, Desire, in which he tells of the deaf child who finally heard and how if a person desires something badly enough he can and will achieve it, auto-suggestion and how having positive thinking can affect outcome, procrastination, imagination, the brain itself and fear. The most interesting section, however, I believe is on his ideas of sex transmutation; turning sex drive into a positive force instead of a destruction one. For the 1930?s his ideas were certainly revolutionary and for the most part most of them still hold. Some of the content is a little dated but in general Hill was on the money!
In essence this book is what Richard Parkes Cordock tried to do with the ?millionaire MBA Business Mentoring Program? and his inspiration for the millionaire upgrade in which Hill?s book is constantly referenced.
I honestly believe that this book should be compulsory for anyone studying business in either High School or University. It for me is one of the best books of in the area of business motivation.
The narration at times can be a little flat but it certainly gets the main points across. If you were looking for a book with a little bit more humour and life then Brian Tracey's "Success Mastery Academy" is certainly worth a look and similar topics are discussed.

Awesome!!
I have never written a review in my life and I definitely owe this book one...Napoleon Hill is true pioneer in self development. I like the honesty, the facts, and most of all the power of positive thinking. If anyone reading this wants joy in their life, please open the pages. This isn't just about getting rich in money, it's about getting rich in life!

Great stuff surrounded by dross
The book is well read and contains kernels of wisdom, but in order to hear the wisdom you need to wade through hours of new age mumbo jumbo.

Outdated
I'm sure this book may have been good once, but for me it is outdated and boring, just rambles on.

Odd but decent
Pretty alright if you look past the bit shout using telepathy and having meetings in your imagination with Napoléon and Jesus Christ. Bit weird, but still pretty good

Some good points but rather outdated.
The book has some great points about mindset and the good qualities one needs to be successful but so much of his philosophy is outdated and I was irritated by his unjustified anti-religious stance.

he believes in telepathy...
there is some good advice, but he also believes in telepathy...so some things not based on evidence

A lot of now disproven facts
Good core message, but a lot of 'telepathy' and 'clairvoyance' thrown in which is frustrating.

Became more engaging with time
The book got better with each chapter. I can see why it has had such success, it is a definite read if you are wanting to educate yourself horizontally.
