It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime.

Delighted by a surprise invitation, Miriam Macy sails off to a luxurious private island off the coast of Mexico, with six strangers - an ex-cop, a chef, a financial advisor, a nurse, a lawyer, and a young widow.

Surrounded by miles of open water in the gloriously green Sea of Cortez, Miriam is shocked to discover that she and the rest of her companions have been brought to the remote island under false pretenses - and all seven strangers harbor a secret.

Danger lurks in the lush forest and in the halls and bedrooms of the lonely mansion. Sporadic cell-phone coverage and miles of ocean keeps the group trapped in paradise. And strange accidents keep them suspicious of each other, as one by one...they all fall down.

For fans of thrilling contemporary suspense like The Woman in Cabin 10, Rachel Howzell Hall's brilliant stand-alone novel modernizes and pays homage to Agatha's Christie's And Then There Were None, bringing a diverse cast of seven sinners to a private island for a reckoning that will leave you breathless.

I lost interest in the story. I certainly didn't feel anything for the main character.

Great reader, not very interesting story

I stopped with two hours to go. The narration made the story and characters unbelievable-And not in a good way.

Horrible narration

I was kinda wondering what’s the point of this? Miriam defended her daughter against a bully and she was put ostracized for it? I don’t get it? The main character was just a protective mom why did she fit with the others? She did go too far but….I just don’t understand the point of this book.

Not sure about this one

Story addressing characters with major personality flaws that interact with their lot in life.. Main character however appeared most redeemable and understandable. Interesting take on intersection of multiple nationalities, race , class and sex. Plot became fairly clear at certain point and story lasted too long -great narration

Not her best but worthwhile

I enjoyed the narrative told by main character Miriam. Even though she is flawed and has an unlikeable quality, I liked her for the majority of the story. Many reviews I saw before reading this book mentioned this is a retelling of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" which I adore so I had high hopes. This book never brought on the suspense expected and was pretty much a story about bad people doing bad things so can only give it three stars.
