It's a great journey with amazing women...

I've already listened to all the books in the series in their separate smaller boxes - but if you haven't, don't miss this opportunity to get all 12 stories in one set cause I guarantee you: once you've started you'll want to go on and on and on until the last word in the last book:)

It's a fantastic set of tales, in so many different tones and touching on so many difficult issues that concern modern women: from racial and sexual abuse to home violence to addictions to lethal diseases to women's rights... whatever problem you can think of, you'll probably find it there. But do not feel scared or overwhelmed by the sheer range and the seriousness and heaviness of the issues covered - they are tackled with tact and subtlety and are woven into fantastically written tales, full of strong women you can identify with and their friends and families. It's so difficult for me to choose one particularly close to my heart - each one is so different from the others, all of them unputdownable...

For more of my reflections on individual books, just visit my reviews for each box set: The Winter of Discovery, The Spring of Discovery, The Summer of Discovery, and The Fall of Discovery. But just to sum it up, here's what I wrote in my review for the last of the 3-book sets, The Fall of Discovery:

"It's a wonderful series of tales of women who face so many different problems, but come out of their turmoils stronger, wiser, more powerful in mind... Thank you for the journey, Ms Hamilton, it was a real pleasure to meet all of them:)
Narration by Ms Hazen was wonderful throughout the whole series; so many women got their feelings, anxieties, fears, but also joys and triumphs voiced out thanks to her:) Her interpretations of all the stories were very well done, making the women seem real to us."

And I still maintain that opinion:) and I still enjoy every tale in the series with the same emotional involvement as the first time I met this amazing bunch of women created by Ms Hamilton. So don't wait, just grab the set - you definitely won't regret that decision:)

Epic!!!

The Year of Discovery Box Set by M.L. Hamilton is epic! I loved how the author wrote strong characters that were intertwined in the different books in this set. Not each book had a happy ending, but the strength of the women was empowering. The storys will stick with me. Kelley Hazen was magical bringing the characters to life with her voice. She is so diverse in her ability to perform various ages and ethnicities, This book will stick with me for a long time.

12 Great Women

This is about 12 women’s lives and I enjoy them. January is sad where 12 women are dealing with a death of a loved one. Maddie’s sister (Meredith) passes away from CA. February is about Destiny a war widow raising her daughter Amarra with the help of her mother but her real dream is to sing and not only in church. March is about Lexi a divorcee sharing custody of her daughter Vicky. She went through a lot of hard times. Aril is about Rosie Estrada who has her hands full. She is married to Rafael, has 2 sons Nesto and Teban, a full time job as loan officer and wants to better herself by going to college. May the main character is Lizzie a college student who had a devastating event happened to her. June the primary character is Mel who is gay going thru rough times she lost her parents at young age and raised by her grandparents who disapprove of her lifestyle. July the primary character in this book Margo Yates who has suffered losses of her husband years ago and recent of her daughter Meredith from CA and is depressed and not living fully. August the primary character in this book is Angela Grayson who has overcome an abusive relationship, became Mayor then went on to seek and elected as Senator to help women. September the primary character in this book is Roxanne Rosales who becomes friends with Mika Yates when working in marketing and meets Henry.. October the primary character in this book is Dr Moira Sykes who recently opened women’s health clinic and was harassed by anti-abortion group, November the primary character in this book is Dr. Mariko Saito who is a professor at the college and women’s health clinic support group but her own life is in uproar. December the primary character in this book is Mika who has been the problem child of the family and alcoholic who finally hits rock bottom after her abusive ex-boyfriend is released from jail and comes to her agrees to help from Brendan (a recovering alcoholic). All of the characters are likable and realistic and loved they are in box set with good narration. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. A fantastic Year of Discovery!

Twelve women, all facing their own challenges, are all connected in some way to one woman... when Meredith passes away, it sets things in motion for each of these ladies to deal with their issues.

ML Hamilton writes with such feeling and emotion. She’s not afraid to tackle tough topics, and she does it with care and consideration. I highly recommend this series!

Kelley Hazen is the perfect narrator to bring this series to life. It’s so much more than just reading a story... You really get a sense of each characters personality and you can feel all the emotions as she performs. Truly an emotional experience.

A Great Series

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it inspiring.  I don't listen to much fiction,  instead I prefer more action and suspense, which is now happening as the series grows.  It all started  with a death of a daughter, sister, and friend, when she leaves a personal message to every family member to be read after her death.   Meredith's  death has brought twelve women together, each drawing strength from the very tragic time for the Yale family.   Her death has touched all these women,  many of them through her youngest sister.     It's twelve stories of  women taking control of their own lives.   Every type of emotion is on display as the stories of twelve  very different women  are told.  Each book is inspiring and uplifting, as each women struggles to be what they want to be.    This combination of author and narrator never fails to draw you into their world.   Very much worth listening too.

12 great romances with strong women

When I read January‘s book I bought it because it was long it had a romance and a strong female lead, little did I know it would be a year-long love affair with Ian Jeffries and Kelly Hazen. When December was over I cried do that to the anticipation of the romance and partly because it was the end of a great book series. This is an all about the romance though there is a great plot in every book I don’t know how Anne Jeffries does it, but each book is interesting and when you’re not reading your thinking about the book. Which to me is a great mark of a great book I highly recommend this box set, I mean you get 12 books January to December full length novels with great blot strong female lead an awesome narrator and you’ll never look at the calendar the same again.
