Story
High fantasy adventure takes a turn with mystery in the final title in the Finder’s Stone Trilogy by Jeff Grubb and Kate Novak. When the Harpers judged the Nameless Bard responsible for the death of his apprentices, they sentenced him to exile and obscurity. Now the Harpers are reconsidering their decision, but with the arrival of the monster Grypht, Nameless’ new trial dissolves in a string of disappearances and murder. It is up to the bard’s friends, Alias the swordswoman, Akabar the mage, Dragonbait the paladin, and Ruskettle the thief, to prove one enemy is behind all the chaos - the ancient evil god, Moander the Darkbringer.

Publisher's Summary
High fantasy doesn’t get better than this - revisit the classic Forgotten Realms in this 2nd book of the Finder’s Stone Trilogy by veteran authors Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb. More than a hunk of junk, the Wyvern’s Spur has moldered in a crypt for 15 generations until now. The Wyvernspur family’s powerful heirloom has been stolen, and grand wizard and patriarch Drone Wyvernspur is the first to fall to the ancient item’s curse. The family fool, Giogi, is left to find it, but even recovering the spur cannot guarantee his clan’s safety. Fortunately, the famous halfling bard Olive Ruskettle and a mysterious and talented mage named Cat are determined to help. But when betrayal and enchantment threaten Giogi’s progress, he must invoke the spur’s awesome might...or become its next victim!

Comic Relief (Enjoy Mat Cauthon you'll like this!)
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I really enjoy this book. I've read it at least 5 times and the audiobook doesn't disappoint. I've always though of it as an goofy episode of a TV show where the writers are just having a good time and a good chuckle. The story is quite good and very humorous. Giogiani Wyvernspur most notable for his catestrophic impersonation of King Azoun and then having his horse devoured by the Red Dragon Myst is the principal character in this book that stays central to one small town. It gives an excelent look into the "home life of adventurers." I really enjoyed listening to Giogi's issues with his family, his friends, coming to terms with his family legacy. But there is also plenty of action and mystery to make it exciting. Its a great mix. I highly recommend this book specifically to anyone who fast fowards through Robert Jordan's Wheel of time Books just to get to the Mat Cauthon chapters!

Pleasantly Surprised!!
I almost didn’t read this book when I saw Alias and Dragonbait weren’t in it. I’m quite happy I read someone’s review that claimed he read it feeling the same way originally and was quite glad he did. The storyline was excellent. Never gave enough info to allow one to foresee events. You have to read clear through to the end before seeing the resolution of every twist. There are familiar characters and new ones, and some you just can’t decide if you love or hate! The end really gets you thinking!! Can’t wait to read the next one!!!!

Great adventure in the forgotten realms
was great to listen too and well voiced. I had always wanted to read these books but never had the time but the books were a great alternative and I'm glad audible had these. (I did hear a cough in the background once and took it as a hidden Easter egg by the narrator lol)

Almost didnt read it
When I read the back of this, the second book of the Finder's Stone trilogy, I almost didnt read it. Why, my favorite characters: Alias, Dragonbait and Akabar Bel-Akash weren't even in it! Instead, I have to suffer through a story focused on my LEAST favorite character: Olive Ruskettle and that fop dandy, Giorgio Wyvernspur??? UGH! Still, I thought that maybe I should give it a try. Just in case there was something pertinent in the story for the 3rd book. Boy! Was I glad I chose to read it! The story was immersive and highly entertaining. I developed a new appreciation for Olive and especially Giorgi AND we were introduced to a slew of new characters (my favorites being Uncle Droan, Thomas, Kat...and Birdie). The villain was a callous cad: EXACTLY the way a villain should be! At the end of the story, I literally applauded; which I didnt do at the end of Azure Bonds and I loved that book. Thank you Ms Novak and Mr Grubb for giving me an extremely pleasant surprise. A special thank you to Ms Kalbli for a brilliant reading!

Classic Forgotten Realms
I'm still only about halfway through, but this is a great series. if you're into classic Dungeons and Dragons with a flair for Forgotten Realms, you can't go wrong with this book. I will add the one disclaimer that you should really read these in order.
As for the audio book, at first I think the performance was so so, but as I listen more her voice really takes on the role of every character. The narrator's execution of characters really set the mood and in the story in place at a certain point there's harmony between the narrator and the emotions the author established. It's really great to hear a narrator identify with the story's characters.
