Publisher's Summary

A battle-worn lawyer fights for a young man’s life in this criminally enthralling legal thriller.

Teen pop star Brittany Crutcher is found dead in small-town Tennessee. For attorney Bocephus Haynes, it’s just another night in Pulaski. Bo swore off criminal work after his last case, but the beloved singer’s murder demands answers.

The prime suspect is local high school football hero and the victim’s boyfriend, Odell Champagne. However, this fallen athlete is one of Bo’s son’s best friends. Bo knows this young man and does not believe him capable of the crime.

When Odell is charged with murder, Bo reluctantly takes the case, sparking outrage throughout the town. But as Bo follows the evidence, he learns that the victim made decisions in her last hours that would give powerful forces motive to harm her. Feeling mounting pressure from the community and the DA, Bo forges ahead. But as the seconds count down, he wonders whether justice is even possible.

Excellent!

I have been waiting for this book to be released for months. I started my first legal mystery & suspense thriller with Robert Bailey’s previous books “The McMurtrie and Drake” series. He has since become my
favorite author in this genre! I have fallen in love with many of the characters including of course the renowned attorney and totally human ex football legend Bocephus Haynes & his friend & ex-client, Helen aka “The General.”Known as the toughest district attorney the county has ever seen, unfortunately she feels broken a adrift do to choices and situations in her life and past. I cannot wait for the next book in the series! The narrator Eric G. Dove does an excellent job also!

LOVE Robert Bailey’s Thrillers!

What a treat INDEED to enjoy well-written thrillers with strong character development and plot lines, believable twists, surprising denouements, healthy doses of creative profanity 🥰👏 but NO Blasphemy- sadly Rare treats among current thriller writers.

The Wrong Side

Bocephus Hanes is a secondary character in the McMurtrie and Drake Legal Thrillers by Robert Bailey. Legacy of Lies and The Wrong Side are spin-offs - Bocephus Hanes being the main character. These stories are a continuation of the McMurtrie and Drake series.

In The Wrong Side episode, Bocephus reluctantly takes on the defense of a teenaged football star; he's been charged with murder. Lots of suspects and sleuthing - you'll enjoy.

Although you don't need to, I suggest you read the entire McMurtrie and Drake thrillers first and continue with the Bocephus Hanes series - they are as good, even better.

Decent legal thrillers, all written by Robert Bailey and narrated by Eric G. Dove. Released by Brilliance Audio.

A good and enjoyable story well told

A good and enjoyable story well told, that really says it all. If you liked the first book you'll like this one. If you haven't read or listened to the first one I recommend you do so. The second book doesn't require the first but does reveal some details that would diminish enjoying the first story.

another home run

this book like Robert Bailey's other books keeps you on the edge of the seat to the final chapters as he spends his web until you think you know who the killer is but then you find out it was someone completely different still waiting from his book The professor to find out if Wilma did shoot herself and who found would have found her body but I guess Mr Bailey will keep that a secret for a while you won't be sorry if you purchase this book it was very good

Stellar Legal Thriller!!

Based on the Bocephus Haynes Series, I would picture Robert Bailey to be an African American author. And I do not mean anything by this, just that the stories in this series are so steeped in Southern Tradition with a mix of African American heritage that I thought for sure the author would also be African American. I am pleasantly surprised to find out that he is not! I think I now appreciate what he's doing with these books that much more!

When I read the first book in this series, Legacy of Lies, I immediately fell in love and couldn't wait for the next book to come out! After reading The Wrong Side I can honestly say that I am just as excited to read book #3!! I really didn't realize that this series is a play off of another series, but now I can't wait to go check them all out because I think that Robert Bailey is a super talented writer (unlike myself using words such as super talented writer...HA!!).

Bocephus "Bo" Haynes is such a strong character that you can't help but love him and root for him. He seems to always be willing to help the underdog, which is one of the things I like most about him. He takes on the cases and the clients that no one else would ever dream of touching...even ones he swore he would have nothing to do with ever again! He is a man of integrity and just a solid, enjoyable character to read about.

The Wrong Side is the perfect title for this story because at times I'm sure Bo feels like he either may or may not be on the wrong side. This one is so hard to tell. I really appreciate legal thrillers and would probably find them to be my favorite genre so I thoroughly enjoy stories like this! If you like legal thrillers, then this book should be right down your alley.

The story was somewhat predictable, but that didn't take away from the story at all! I still found it engaging and enjoyable. Bo's love for his town, his people, and what he does seeps through the pages of the story!

Although this is Book #2 of this series, it could easily be read as a standalone because there's enough backstory to get you through without confusing you too much. Bailey was really good about throwing tidbits of information from the first book to keep you up to speed. Which as an avid reader that reads anywhere from 100 to 150 books a year, I really appreciate that because I don't always remember right away what happened in the previous story! It's not enough to be redundant, but enough to refresh your memory, or not make you feel lost if you're jumping into book 2 first.

This title is narrated by Eric G. Dove and I feel like he is the PERFECT fit for this story! Stell performance for sure!!

Overall this is a well-written story with perfect execution and solid characters! As I said before...I can't wait for the next book in this series!

I would like to offer a huge THANK YOU to Robert Bailey, Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of The Wrong Side, which has allowed me to provide this honest and unbiased review.

Not bad, not great

I have listened to the rest of the stories in this series, but even so there is a lot of reliance on previous knowledge of people and plots which were referred to a lot! It was an ok sequel, not great, or gripping.

Outstanding as ever

What a great listen. Yet again Robert Bailey has delivered with 'The wrong side.' You just want to be transported into the story to meet the characters he so vividly portrays. This is phenomenal and there is no way until the very end you will guess who has done what, when, where and to whom! My only advice is listen to all of Robert Bailey's books starting with, The Professor, then you will learn where the character Bocephus comes from and how the past influences to present.

I sincerely hope we don't have to wait long for another book!
