Loved the characters and the twist on fake marriage

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time. I enjoyed the characters and the way that the story developed. The banter is great and I had fun with the secondary characters as well as the main characters. I loved Easton and Lexi and she did a great job with making this story it's own and unique with the tropes of fake marriage and billionaire which at times can feel overdone. NOT the case with this one. I loved the agreement that Easton and Lexi had to always tell each other the truth and the way that they stuck to that. It meant that while things started off being fake to fulfill the obligation needed, when the feelings started to change and there was a true possibility for more they both knew it. Easton knew that Lexi was anti love at the time that he met her and that it had to do with the bad relationship with her ex. The characters made the story for me and it was believable and real and I was engaged the whole time. I truly loved their communication throughout the story and the way that Easton went about building the relationship with Lexi and wanting to truly get to know each other and working towards that. I loved the adventures they went on and just how real they were with each other. I absolutely loved it and can't wait for the next one!
The narrators did a fantastic job with this story and bringing the characters to life. They did such a good job with their personalities and what was happening to really add that extra dynamic and build the story even more.

Entertaining

When I read the blurb for this book I was intrigued and could not wait to dive into The Wife Situation. Their meet cute was unconventional when Easton Calloway accuses Alexis “Lexi” Matthews of theft and she loses her job.

To take his family business over, Easton needs to marry before his birthday which is coming up. Imagine Lexi’s shock when he then turns around and wants to “hire” her to be his wife for a year? Confused? What an entertaining, steamy, witty, story that ticked all the boxes for me.

Easton and Lexi come from two diverse backgrounds and could not be more opposite. The push and pull dynamic of their relationship as fake becomes real was a wonderful journey as they got to know one another and fell in love. This book had me smiling and left me with a smile on my face.

Amy Hall and Marcio Catalano did a good job of narrating the characters in a variety of voices and brought the story to life for me, doing justice to the story that the author created. Both their voices were easy to listen to and I found myself invested in their performances.

Their meet cute... he gets her fired

Lexi is a maid at the hotel where Easton is staying. She accidentally takes his watch and when she tries to return it, he accuses her of theft and has her fired. They feel an instant connection, which he feels again when he randomly sees her in Central Park. With a push from his twin brother, they end up spending time together. To secure the CEO position at his family's company, he needs to marry in 6 weeks, before he turns 40. They enter into the fake wedding agreement.

The author does a great job of layering some unexpected twists into the story--she loves classic cars and so does he; he's only had one relationship that lasts longer than 2 weeks... the countdown to his birthday and the countup of their days together is a fun touch.

I really enjoyed their live story. It grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let go until the awesome epilogue. I can't wait to read The Friend Situation.

Note that is was sometimes difficult to tell who was speaking during the narration. The narrators didn't always do a great job changing the voices enough to know who was speaking. This is not a duet narration which probably would have helped.

One of my favorite reads!

I absolutely love this book, and considering I dont like age gap thats saying something. I really enjoyed the audio as well. I like the female narrator a bit more than the male narrator but both were good, and it was an enjoyable experience listening to it. Below is the review I left after reading the book for the first time. And rereads and listens just make me love ot more!

First let me start by saying though this is an age gap, it’s not super noticeable with the characters. Lexi makes a couple of comments about his age, but other than that it wasn’t a big plot point. So if you’re someone who isn’t usually a fan of age gap (I’m not usually a fan) still give it a try. That being said this is my absolute favorite book that I have read by Lyra. All of the characters are fantastic and I’m cursing her name for making us wait a year to get our hands on Carlee and Weston’s story. Though it was nice to go back to Valentine for bit, and a teaser for Remi and Cash (which despite it being an age gap I’ll have to read it).

Easton falls extremely hard and fast for Lexi. I love how all his chapters have how long he has known, her as well the story behind it. Easton is willing to do pretty much anything for Lexi including being late. The way he calls her darling from pretty much the beginning is just so precious. And if you live for a my wife moment like I do, this is great book for you.

Lexi is anti-love at the start of the book, and she has very valid reasons for it. She is pretty honest about it, but of course Easton makes it impossible for her to stay that way. She may have needed a bit of help to determine what love really felt like, but she got there eventually. Once realized what was happening she did embraced it.

I really loved how much time was spent on Easton and Lexi developing their relationship. We got to learn little bits and pieces along the way, it just felt really organic. Easton had no problem showing Lexi how he felt, and the ways she was different from all the women he had previously dated. The way Easton tried to fulfill Lexi’s bucket list items was perfection. He also didn’t shy away from her brothers and that whole scene was great, especially since we got to enjoy a glimpse into some of the Valentine men.

Honestly I just really loved this book a lot. The characters were great (leaving me wanting that second book desperately), the story flowed nicely, and there wasn’t a 3rd act breakup. I just really loved this book, I was never bored and I didn’t want it to end. It’s definitely in contention for my top read of the year.

Great start to this series!

From the moment Easton and Lexi ran into each other there was a spark and it was something that neither of them really expected. This is a SLOW read in terms of sexy times. They don’t get frisky until the 80% mark or so, but when it happens, let’s say it was worth it! Easton is a deliciously smart, sexy, reclusive, introverted, billionaire who's set to overtake his family business. The only problem? He can't take it over unless he gets married before his birthday... which is mere weeks away. Enter Lexi and his eventual proposal to help him save his family's company and all of its employees by marrying him for one year. In exchange? A few million bucks. What a fun and feel good, slow burn romance between two very opposite people who just work well together. I really enjoyed their build up from friends to something more.
