Publisher's summary

With great power comes great appetite!

Varney Lorington, head chef and proprietor of The Harvest Spread, was just your average self-aggrandizing chef—until fragments of a lost world impacted Earth, leaving the planet in a state of transformation! Now Varney serves as personal chef to his new master: a thief, child abductor, and murderer by the name of Viral.

In a desperate attempt to gain power and build an empire, Viral steals two items from the Adventurer’s Guild. One that allows him to leave the fragment moments after it impacts Earth, and another that secures him his very own personal chef.

On the run from the guild and hounded by quickly manifesting monsters, Viral, Varney, and 10 orphans are forced to flee into a dungeon. A dungeon that just so happens to be composed entirely of food matter. Trapped in the food dungeon, and with his enemies closing in from all sides, Varney concocts a treacherous plan to betray Viral and seize the villain's power for himself.

subtly fast paced

Disclaimer picked this book up with credit from the author. story starts out like most with needed ground work, gets dark real quick but bounces back up with some funny moments. character development makes sense when you think about the experiences and changes that occur with a cataclysm but it sneaks up on you. best part for me is there is no "good guy" it's just people trying to make it in a crazy world. I definitely recommend this one, you know it's the end of the world when someone goes to Indiana on purpose

A Breath of Fresh Air!

I enjoyed every second of this audiobook! The narration was great and the story was phenomenal! Lots of new concepts and story elements were on display rather then the over used tropes which have become tiresome in other LitRPG stories. The characters were fun and multifaceted, and the humor was perfect!
I’m eagerly awaiting the sequel!

Fantastic Story and narration!

This book was wonderfully paced and very engaging! The characters were fantastic and the dynamic between Varney and Viral was so much fun to listen to. Highly recommend!

Disappointments Is betrayal by the author's choice

The first part of the book was really not necessary I know he needs kids I know that they had to find Some Way of Putting the person that's the main character into the system But at the same time it was just a little too long In getting to the dungeon and then when we get in there we're a little too long in there and given that this author's real life It would have been interesting to see how she dealt with More with ecology and that when it comes to the shards In some ways it's almost aside book serious could have been made about sharks positive and negative on Earth and cultural clashes And the fact is thing that really gets me angry about this is that well i'd like to look at that cover I just want 20 minutes in for him to find the dungeon and to start cooking The fact is he doesn't really do as much as he should in this one If I were to I would not have that cover and not expect As much as I did from the excerptsearch i'd say this is a 5 start but I feel cheated Because yeah he cooks but it's not what it should be Which is why it's only 4 star

Ehhhh. It's a story

Not great. Interesting premise but not well written. Seems more like a child's story. The depth isn't there and it skips over pretty important world building issues and dynamics. Could be good but needs a lot more character development, details on magic systems and overall plot depth. Can't recommend at this time.
