Publisher's Summary

Well, it could be better.

Jim and his literal shoulder demon have survived, so far, by the skin of their teeth.

After finding a long-abandoned starter village, Jim has begun the process of rebuilding his town. Unfortunately for our favorite adventurer, the threats he now faces are far more complicated than mere monsters. The poor Noob has to deal with angry townsfolk, trade negotiations, and a talking badger.

With goblins and bandits also sniffing around, will Noobtown - I mean Windfall - survive?

LOL cheep humor but still beyond funny

I thought after I was 10 years old I would be beyond fart jokes but in this case the author used them and other such piece of rhetoric to play to all the strengths of all the characters. I love that the MC is not an idiot, it sadly has become far to commonplace for writers to make their MC's Obtuse but not here Jim is a consistent characters and the side characters play off him perfectly. The narration was perfect, intense when it needed to be, and it has fun is the character dialogue that actually makes you feel like they are happening between two, or more, people (In my opinion that is the sign that the narrator captured what the author wanted.) 10 out of 10 WILL listen to it again.

Absolutely fantastic

If you liked the first you will like this one just as much. The humor is right in line, the action is great. All in all great book.

Excellent

I hardly ever post reviews, despite having listened to over 80 audiobooks. I skipped this series for a long time due to the unappealing name. That was a mistake.

This series is excellent; it contains most of what is part and parcel of litrpg while avoiding being overbearing with litrpg mechanics. The satirical take on the genre is amusing and had me smiling time to time with the way it pokes fun at it's myriad of tropes. I really quite enjoyed the banter between the three main characters.

If I had to give a weakness, it would be the lack of exposure to secondary characters and underdeveloped antagonists at this point in time. It appears the author may be aware of this, as the conclusion of the novel seems to shed light on a greater overreaching plot and more significant villains.

Highly anticipating the next book.

Listend to both back to back

Just as good as the first and it again had great narration and character interaction. I still have the same minor issues as the last book. The MC doesn't really get angry in situations he should except for a few part's. I am not sure if I am just different than most but I think if I am getting stabbed, slashed, burnt or whatever happens in the battles I would start to get angry at some point. He does show mercy in a situation which I like. Overall I will listen/read whatever comes out next.

Quiet fun, and different

Not a huge twist on the LitRpg genre, but an interesting and entertaining one. Quit a fun listen, book 2 in the series. Book 1 is just as good.

Noob Levels Up

I very much enjoyed the first story, this sequel is even better.

Ryan Rimmel weaves an enjoyable tale, witty and occasionally sad. Every now and then he seems to forget he’s told us something before and brings it up again as if for the first time.

Johnathan McClain (John McClain! How awesome is that name) is a brilliant narrator.

An improvement on the first!

A longer story, less stats and more story development and humour have given this sequel a welcome step up in quality from the first in the series, not that the first was bad. The constant talking about stats and damage can definitely become grating, but looking back on both books, I tend to only remember the story itself, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and so perhaps the stats aren't as bad after getting used to them.

A good installment.

While the book works well as a installment of the series, It dosent quite gel well with the wider world building elements. Its not a book that can survive on its own merit, alot of its action beats follow other litrpg stories yet the result doesn't quite leave me satisfied with the journey.

It alludes to a higher leveled world outside the valley yet its doesn't quite follow through on that image.

I enjoyed the references that were riddled thoughout and look forward to jim finding his own way though the novel.
