In this gripping follow-up to his Edgar Award-nominated mystery, The Deep, Deep Snow, Brian Freeman tells the story of Rebecca Colder, a young sheriff’s deputy who faces the most excruciating choice a mother can make.

I know you’ll never forgive me for what I did. I’m sure you’ve asked yourself that question many times over the years.

Why? Why did I do it?

Well, sweetheart, this is the answer.

I was only 26 years old when the monster came back to Black Wolf County. The answers you want begin at Christmas time that year. However, if you really want to understand everything that happened to me - to us - you have to go even further back in my life.

Years back, to the night I met the Ursulina face to face.

So let’s start there.

This is my favorite Brian Freeman novel yet. I have listened to every one of them and they are all great but this one is now at the top of my list. I love that I never see the ending coming....in all his stories.

WOW, just WOW!

Great writing and story. I didn't see that ending coming! Fabulous narrator. Best mystery I've listened to/read in a long time. I'll definitely be looking for more by this author.

I loved this audiobook by my favorite author and female narrator. I want to go back and reacquaint myself to The Deep Deep Snow now. Intriguing, suspenseful, and powerful entertainment!

I was captivated, surprised and didn't see this ending coming. I don't typically give 5 stars...this book and narrator earned it. I now am exploring other titles by Freeman. I also enjoyed the narrator. Perfect fit.

Captivating!

I was scared at first... not really hearing the plot of the story... but then... BAM. Made it all worth it. I agree, sounds like there will be another one. Can't wait.

I love Brian Freeman’s books but this is a step above them all. What a great story with many emotional chapters along with the unexpected twists. Just fabulous!

Best of the best

Brian Freeman has done it again. jump in on a ride to find the Ursulina. gruesome murders, a lawsuit against the only employer in town a copper mine. and Murders that seem to be connected by the animal like attack. This story is not about a Bigfoot like creature. this is a woman and her path to the creature responsible for the deaths. all while trying to protect her baby. With a cameo from our owl friend from Deep Deep Snow. and an ending that will bring the tears with the power of just one word.

What a follow up prequel to Deep Deep Snow!

The Deep, Deep Snow (Pt 1) kept me guessing the whole time, and so did this one. The descriptions evoked visceral reactions, from scrunching my nose in disgust to laughter. I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the story.

Part 2 was as good as Part 1
