At first, progress on the case is frustratingly slow and Cormac struggles to keep his mind on the job. His ex-girlfriend, Emma Sweeney, is in trouble, and she's reached out to him for help – Emma's new husband has gone missing in Paris, and the French police are refusing to open an investigation into his disappearance.

Cormac is sure that he has found Grey's killer, and is within hours of an arrest, when another mutilated body is discovered on the other side of the country. Two days later, a third body is found. Press attention is intense. Is there a serial killer at work in Ireland? Has Cormac been on the wrong trail? And if so, can he find the murderer before they strike again?

Good procedural

I like the Cormac books - reliable whodunnits. Nothing mind blowing but entertaining nonetheless. The narrator was good as well. Solid listen.

Great continuation

Great story with interesting twists and turns. I hope the next chapter in Cormac and Peter’s story is coming soon - I really don't like the hung endings but I guess the author needs them to keep people coming back for more. As always great narration.

I like the situations, love Cormac, excellent character development, all so good that I listen over and over. The performance is excellent.

Layers and Layers

I love how these books include multiple storylines to move the plot forward. It’s just enough to keep you engaged and not too much to get you confused. Wonderful writing that draws you into Cormac’s world and keeps you on edge as he moves through his cases and interactions with others.

Dervla never fails to bring us deeper into Cormac’s head and heart with her creative storytelling. I was very happy that Peter is still in the story and enjoy their interactions and developing working relationship and developing friendship.
Narration is perfection! Ms. McMahon manages to present multiple characters within varied scenes, never once losing me along the way. I am able to know who is speaking and most importantly-STAY in the story! Huge thank you to both women for the sharing of their gifts for our entertainment. 🌷💕

Excellent follow up

The best results for concluding Cormac and Peter’s partnership. All of it rings true. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the Complaints Department in Galway.
