Publisher's summary

"One of the best Consciousness books of all time" (BookAuthority)

2019 Gold Winner of the Reader's Favorite Awards and best seller in multiple spirituality and self-help categories, The Unbound Soul is a fresh, highly acclaimed spiritual guide that tells of one man's struggle to free his soul while guiding the listener to their own inner freedom.

The Unbound Soul is a memoir that tells the true story of a young boy who, in the midst of a vision, dedicates his life to spiritual awakening. As he matures, this promise leads him across the globe, gathering ancient knowledge and mastering martial, healing, and meditation arts.

Along the way, subsequent visions reveal the rapidly approaching collapse that will shake our societies, our economic system, and the earth's ecology to the very core. Tormented by visions of coming worldwide calamity, Haight presses ever onward in his search and eventually realizes the elusive truth hinted at in his childhood vision.

But The Unbound Soul is so much more than a memoir. It is a powerful guide that reveals the profoundly simple yet elusive truth that illuminates your life and provides a set of powerful awareness tools to assist you on your personal path. The Unbound Soul is really about you and your path toward practical realization in everyday life.

Critic reviews

"For anyone who is seeking to understand themselves and their lives more fully and who wishes to develop as much as they can in this lifetime, this book is a 'page-turner'. There is an enormous amount of wisdom and understanding here that would inspire anyone to embark on their quest. Keeping the book around, once read, and dipping into it regularly would keep you on the path when, as inevitably happens, you sometimes become disheartened. Richard Haight is fully aware of this possibility as, in this lifetime, he has traveled a road of constant seeking, which is perhaps what makes this book so compelling." (Dr. H. A. Jones, Top 500 Reviewer, spiritofoneness.co.uk)

"Beyond meditation! If you are interested in growing your peace and harmony, buy this book, read it, practice every day and share the path to unconditional love, the bare bones of all religions." (Fred Tomasello Jr., Walking Wounded: Memoir of a Combat Veteran)

"Add this to your reading list! As a student of spiritual teachings, I highly recommend reading Richard L. Haight's book, The Unbound Soul. Using his personal story as the foundation, Richard takes the reader through a journey that starts with a childhood vision and ends with a spiritual awakening that catapults him from student to teacher, leaving us with powerful lessons and insights for our own spiritual journeys. What's more, Richard doesn't talk at us but with us, as he shares his own trials and tribulations along the way. This is a must read for anyone searching to explore spirituality, purpose, and unbound freedom." (Greg Giesen, Award-winning author of Monday at 3 and Creating Authenticity)

Nice

Through a series of profound experiences and realizations, Haight gradually sheds the conditioning and preconceptions that had previously obscured his true nature. As he peels back the layers of his psyche, he unveils the luminous awareness that lies at the core of human consciousness - the "unbound soul" that is our birthright, yet often eludes us in the midst of our busy, distracted lives.

Experience

Upon hearing this story, it seems that He has encountered an entity that is far beyond the description of what any religious book has described. And by experiencing this phenomenon, he started a journey of spiritual discovery within himself to draw more conclusions and understanding of himself and the world around him

An Enlightening Journey Across A Visionary Life

After undergoing tribal initiations with visionary plants in the jungle, embracing samurai arts, studying ancient lineages, and experiencing a deeply transformative encounter with the divine, Haight undoubtedly has many worthwhile experiences to share. As a clinician myself, I am personally driven by what the logical mind can define and what science can prove, but there is no doubt this author has found his ideal truths as well!

I feel this book would be appropriate for anyone curious about spiritual development, with an interest in purpose-driven life techniques and concepts. Despite being effectively presented and exhaustively researched, I felt it was lengthier than necessary and belabored certain points. I question whether the deeply spiritual associations and visions might be too conceptually abstract for many readers or doubting skeptics to comfortably grasp, but overall, this is quite the tale of triumph and discovery!

Wonderful gem of a book

This is my first review on Audible and I am quite taken with this book. I felt "led" to The Unbound Soul and in it I found Richard's experience to be an authentic one indeed. I know truth when I hear it and his story is told from a very humble standpoint which I find refreshing and is the sign of a master teacher. This book will give the reader tools for spiritual growth in a very easy way to understand and he is very thorough, which I appreciate. The author gives detailed instruction on how to acheive balance in life through introspection and the discarding of belief systems borne of the mind as the way to "is-ness" or no mind. A mind free from concepts and judgements and chatter and, therefore, is about freedom from the bondage of self via letting go of fixed ideas and concepts so that one can live in a truly free and fulfilling way. I have not doubt, that I will listen to this book with as much reverence and freqency as I do when I listen to or read about Taoism (which is weekly). Thank you Richard for the time and energy it took to write this and for the gift you have given me with your wise words and life story.

Unbinding

"The Unbound Soul" is an amazing work. Hearing Richard read this text is very helpful for me. I have worked with Richard directly for the last year, so, being able to hear Richard read "The Unbound Soul" feels like a continuation of the training that occurs during the day. This really helps the ideas sink in at a bodily level.

For anyone on the awakening path, I would strongly encourage you to read Richard's work.

Thought-Provoking, but Long

Overall, I enjoyed this book. Haight does a fantastic job of incorporating his own experiences and stories with the knowledge that he has learned over the years. I also appreciated Haight’s approach to Isness. He expressed multiple times that it is achievable by anyone, and gave examples on how he managed to find Isness. My only complaint is that the book was a tad long. Some of the messages were redundant. I would still recommend this book to anyone, secular or not, who is questioning the existential.

Mind Opening Book

I truly do recommend this book to readers that are willing to open their minds to different experiences and ideas. I appreciate the author making it known that it may feel like it doesn’t work for some people but it really does depend on their mindset and willingness to make change. In this book I personally learned things I’ve never realized about myself and related to a lot of things I thought I was alone in.
