Publisher's Summary

"One of the best Consciousness books of all time" (BookAuthority)

2019 Gold Winner of the Reader's Favorite Awards and best seller in multiple spirituality and self-help categories, The Unbound Soul is a fresh, highly acclaimed spiritual guide that tells of one man's struggle to free his soul while guiding the listener to their own inner freedom.

The Unbound Soul is a memoir that tells the true story of a young boy who, in the midst of a vision, dedicates his life to spiritual awakening. As he matures, this promise leads him across the globe, gathering ancient knowledge and mastering martial, healing, and meditation arts.

Along the way, subsequent visions reveal the rapidly approaching collapse that will shake our societies, our economic system, and the earth's ecology to the very core. Tormented by visions of coming worldwide calamity, Haight presses ever onward in his search and eventually realizes the elusive truth hinted at in his childhood vision.

But The Unbound Soul is so much more than a memoir. It is a powerful guide that reveals the profoundly simple yet elusive truth that illuminates your life and provides a set of powerful awareness tools to assist you on your personal path. The Unbound Soul is really about you and your path toward practical realization in everyday life.

Critic Reviews

"For anyone who is seeking to understand themselves and their lives more fully and who wishes to develop as much as they can in this lifetime, this book is a 'page-turner'. There is an enormous amount of wisdom and understanding here that would inspire anyone to embark on their quest. Keeping the book around, once read, and dipping into it regularly would keep you on the path when, as inevitably happens, you sometimes become disheartened. Richard Haight is fully aware of this possibility as, in this lifetime, he has traveled a road of constant seeking, which is perhaps what makes this book so compelling." (Dr. H. A. Jones, Top 500 Reviewer, spiritofoneness.co.uk)

"Beyond meditation! If you are interested in growing your peace and harmony, buy this book, read it, practice every day and share the path to unconditional love, the bare bones of all religions." (Fred Tomasello Jr., Walking Wounded: Memoir of a Combat Veteran)

"Add this to your reading list! As a student of spiritual teachings, I highly recommend reading Richard L. Haight's book, The Unbound Soul. Using his personal story as the foundation, Richard takes the reader through a journey that starts with a childhood vision and ends with a spiritual awakening that catapults him from student to teacher, leaving us with powerful lessons and insights for our own spiritual journeys. What's more, Richard doesn't talk at us but with us, as he shares his own trials and tribulations along the way. This is a must read for anyone searching to explore spirituality, purpose, and unbound freedom." (Greg Giesen, Award-winning author of Monday at 3 and Creating Authenticity)

A Must Read For Anyone Questioning Life's Purpose

This book is like having a spiritual guide with you whenever you need it to provide words of encouragement and show you the path to awakening, without being pushy. I highly recommend this to anyone who is constantly in their mind about anything and everything and finds it hard to remain in the present moment. The author does a great job of showing you the way, reminding you to forgive yourself when you stray from the path, and to keep pushing on and providing time for yourself.

Good luck staying awake or engaged.

I wish authors would stop doing their own audio recordings; they are not voice over professionals- they are authors. The pace & voice was a real snooze-fest.
The first 5 chapters were pretty unbearable. I can’t make it any further. I tried, his anecdotes are anti-climactic. I’m 7 chapters in and he never quite cuts to the chase on anything. Disappointing. I just don’t see how others are giving such rave reviews, it is not enlightening in the least. I just can’t finish this book.

An Enlightening Journey Across A Visionary Life

After undergoing tribal initiations with visionary plants in the jungle, embracing samurai arts, studying ancient lineages, and experiencing a deeply transformative encounter with the divine, Haight undoubtedly has many worthwhile experiences to share. As a clinician myself, I am personally driven by what the logical mind can define and what science can prove, but there is no doubt this author has found his ideal truths as well!

I feel this book would be appropriate for anyone curious about spiritual development, with an interest in purpose-driven life techniques and concepts. Despite being effectively presented and exhaustively researched, I felt it was lengthier than necessary and belabored certain points. I question whether the deeply spiritual associations and visions might be too conceptually abstract for many readers or doubting skeptics to comfortably grasp, but overall, this is quite the tale of triumph and discovery!

Enlightenment for Everyone!

I was extremely skeptical before listening to this audiobook. I don't normally read or enjoy non-fiction books about meditation or spirituality because books in that genre are usually geared towards specific religions or lack of religion and that's off-putting for me. This book is different, however. I think that anyone can apply the theories and teachings in this book to their everyday lives REGARDLESS of their religion. The book is based on the author's goal of realizing "isness," an all-encompassing awareness based on unconditional love for oneself and everyone/everything around the world. There are techniques and lessons in this book to focus on each part a person's health and happiness, including diet, exercise, mental awareness, etc. I rate this book 4/5 stars and would recommend to any reader interested in self-realization, meditation, spirituality, and even the skeptics!

A workbook to liberation!

Self-discovery, self-actualization, self-realization is a complex process requiring tremendous effort and application of numerous techniques when approached from the mind-based perspective and the results may vary ...
Attended from consciousness standpoint, the process turns into a phenomenal journey of insights and clarification, until the sense of self is no more (transcended). The author offers a detailed map with a bountiful set of handy tools how to navigate through the unknown terrain of transformation and the potential pitfalls and traps, leading us to the final conclusion .... do you dare to know?
Simple, authentic, insightful.... brilliant!!!

Could not put it down!

Richard Haight uses story telling to take you along on his path to Spiritual Awakening. Honestly this is my first book of this kind and I am new to this journey, however, this book made me want to continue no matter how hard it may seem. I love the easy, no nonsense way Richard writes. There are no wasted words or moments. I know that there is no way I could comprehend all in the 3-4 days it took for me to hear this audiobook, so I will be going through it again. And for me to do that, it MUST have some substance. However, before doing that, I think I will have a listen to Richards book "Inspirience."

For Anyone On a Spirtual Journey

A book anyone could benefit from reading. The Unbound Soul is a fantastic read. The audible version is convenient and makes the book accessible when on the go. Haight reflects on his personal experiences and tribulations in the book impressively, demonstrating that he can relate to the average individual. He does not just speak about spiritual transformation but also teaches how to achieve it. His narration has heart; a must-read for anyone struggling with their spiritual path or wants to have a deeper insight to life. I really love, and learned a lot from it.

Worth the time

I am curious about the mystical experiences of people, and how they interpret their experiences. This book covers the author’s youthful encounters with both formal religion and his own visions, and how these influenced his adult spiritual quests. It was easy to listen to, engaging, and kept my interest. The reading was homespun, read by the author, and I found that acceptable and perhaps less distracting than a more dramatic reading by a “professional.” The material is good, so if you are interested in such matters you will probably enjoy this book.

Disappointing

I’ve read lots of these type of books in my ongoing ‘search’ for clarity but found this one overly verbose and unnecessarily complex. Some reviews suggest it improves after chapter 11 - sadly I couldn’t get that far.

Amazing book of self discovery

A great book that explains in detail an interesting and strong perspective on the root causes of suffering in the human condition. Richard provides many amazing insights that prove really helpful on the spiritual awakening path as well as explaining his own story thay led him to discover what lies behind what we perceive as reality. His interpretations of teachings from the bible and Budda give a whole new understanding of what they were trying to point to and how what they taught helps modern society. Reading the book helped me to understand many of the reasons of the events in my own life and that every person has a purpose in life. in my opinion this is an essential book for anyone who is looking to discover more about themselves and who are on a journey of self discovery

I feel like I found treasure

Broken into 4 parts starting with the authors story and progressing into the deep stuff I was totally entranced. If you read the first part alone you will have no idea of the depth and beauty that is hidden in this book. If you learn nothing from it then you are either deaf or not paying attention, its just amazing. I have just bought it in paperback for a birthday present for my son. I would highly recommend it to anyone sincerely looking to understand and progress on their spiritual path, the means are all here. Its not all floaty and dreamy,,its experiential, its deep, truthful and real. Going to relisten to it over and over because their are precious pearls in here and I want them to sink in.

A thought provoking and interesting book.

This book is an interesting account of the author’s spiritual journey growing up in California to living in Japan, mastering martial arts and their teachings and his ongoing quest for spiritual knowledge. The book provides techniques for mediation, living in the now and guidance on living a spiritual life. A thought-provoking and challenging book that has extended my own understanding in this area.

Excellent Enlightening Experience

Richard Haight does the talk and the walk as he takes you through his first hand experiences and practises on how to achieve enlightenment.

An amazing book that can be read over and over again, with new gainful insights in each chapter. Even if you do not wish to experience enlightenment you will feel enriched, awakened and inspired to continue on your own journey of discovery. A truly great book teaching how to live meditation with all of its inherent wisdom, in daily life on a practical level.

A unexpected gem

This book left me pleasantly surprised. I was quite reluctant at first, assuming it was going to be just another regurgitation of the many new-age books that have exploded onto the religious/spiritual scene, but all my reservations were crushed by the time I finished the last chapter. There are so many precious gems of wisdom here that are presented in a refreshingly humble way (which I won't reveal bc I want you to read/listen to it with an open mind), and I greatly respect how he constantly reminds us that this books is just a retelling of his own personal journey to unbinding the soul, not the only way.

This is a book I will be going back to again and again as my own spiritual evolution progresses and I recommend this to anyone spiritually inclined (or not?) to give this one a read/listen.

Slow Motion Speaking from Chapter 16

Having the author speak so slowly becomes so monotonous that I lost interest and began to tune out. Inflection with a tempo that keeps readers tuned in and interested to the authors intention to inform others of his personal thoughts of his experiences and knowledge should be considered. The delivery of vocal audible edition of his book comes across that he is trying to employ a meditation voice from chapter 16.
