Publisher's Summary

The 2019 Gold Metal winner of the Readers' Favorite Awards and bestseller in multiple spirituality and self-help categories, The Unbound Soul is a fresh, highly acclaimed spiritual guide that tells of one man's struggle to free his soul while guiding the reader to their own inner freedom.

The Unbound Soul tells the true story of a young boy, who in the midst of a vision, dedicates his life to spiritual awakening. This promise leads him across the globe, gathering ancient knowledge and mastering martial, healing, and meditation arts.

Along the way, subsequent visions reveal the rapidly approaching collapse that will shake our societies, our economic system, and the earth's ecology to the very core. Tormented by visions of coming worldwide calamity, Haight presses ever onward in his search and eventually realizes the elusive truth hinted at in his childhood vision.

But The Unbound Soul is so much more than a memoir. It is a powerful guide that reveals the profoundly simple yet elusive truth that illuminates your life and provides a set of powerful awareness tools to assist you on your personal path. The Unbound Soul is really about you and your path of spiritual awakening in everyday life.

An Enlightening Journey Across A Visionary Life

After undergoing tribal initiations with visionary plants in the jungle, embracing samurai arts, studying ancient lineages, and experiencing a deeply transformative encounter with the divine, Haight undoubtedly has many worthwhile experiences to share. As a clinician myself, I am personally driven by what the logical mind can define and what science can prove, but there is no doubt this author has found his ideal truths as well!

I feel this book would be appropriate for anyone curious about spiritual development, with an interest in purpose-driven life techniques and concepts. Despite being effectively presented and exhaustively researched, I felt it was lengthier than necessary and belabored certain points. I question whether the deeply spiritual associations and visions might be too conceptually abstract for many readers or doubting skeptics to comfortably grasp, but overall, this is quite the tale of triumph and discovery!

Very Enlightening

After listening to this book, I was really enlightened and spiritually awakened. I strongly recommend this book, but I advise novices in the subject matter to not delve into this book unguided to avoid confusion. I agree with some of Richard's teachings, and I do not agree with some other parts. But he was totally right when he said that the core of Jesus' teachings is unconditional love.

Enlightenment for Everyone!

I was extremely skeptical before listening to this audiobook. I don't normally read or enjoy non-fiction books about meditation or spirituality because books in that genre are usually geared towards specific religions or lack of religion and that's off-putting for me. This book is different, however. I think that anyone can apply the theories and teachings in this book to their everyday lives REGARDLESS of their religion. The book is based on the author's goal of realizing "isness," an all-encompassing awareness based on unconditional love for oneself and everyone/everything around the world. There are techniques and lessons in this book to focus on each part a person's health and happiness, including diet, exercise, mental awareness, etc. I rate this book 4/5 stars and would recommend to any reader interested in self-realization, meditation, spirituality, and even the skeptics!

Not my type of book

I found the book a bit slow. Basically not what I was looking for so returning.

A Must Read For Anyone Questioning Life's Purpose

This book is like having a spiritual guide with you whenever you need it to provide words of encouragement and show you the path to awakening, without being pushy. I highly recommend this to anyone who is constantly in their mind about anything and everything and finds it hard to remain in the present moment. The author does a great job of showing you the way, reminding you to forgive yourself when you stray from the path, and to keep pushing on and providing time for yourself.

A thought provoking and interesting book.

This book is an interesting account of the author’s spiritual journey growing up in California to living in Japan, mastering martial arts and their teachings and his ongoing quest for spiritual knowledge. The book provides techniques for mediation, living in the now and guidance on living a spiritual life. A thought-provoking and challenging book that has extended my own understanding in this area.

I LOVE this book!

Richard L. Haight has created a masterpiece with 'The Unbound Soul'. With great clarity, he shares his experience and advice on how to feel good, be happy and enjoy life. His extensive advice covers everything from meditating and increasing awareness, to taking care of yourself, managing relationships, freeing yourself from expectations and practising an excellent technique which he calls “Dance of the Self”.

In truth, the autobiographical Part One did little for me. I sadly felt that the author's voice was uninspiring and almost decided against listening to the rest of the book. I am so very glad that I stuck it out! Not only was Part One useful to understand the foundations of Haight's teachings, but come Part Two, there was a complete turnaround with renewed enthusiasm and strength, thankfully continuing right through to the end of the book - the content of which was truly outstanding. Seldom can an author so expertly convey their ideas like this: getting their message across so that anybody can take it on board and doing so in such a way that the reader feels respected and would never reasonably take offence.

This is the first time I have come across a book of this kind that I am really keen to recommend to others. Despite assumptions that may be made based on the title, Haight's take on everything is extremely grounded and can be applied to normal daily life. As Haight suggests, it is important to listen or read with an open mind, in order to enjoy and get the most out of this book. With this foundation, I honestly believe there is value in it for everyone and I hope it will bring you the same joy it has brought me.

A rocky start, but well worth the climb. I can easily give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Slow Motion Speaking from Chapter 16

Having the author speak so slowly becomes so monotonous that I lost interest and began to tune out. Inflection with a tempo that keeps readers tuned in and interested to the authors intention to inform others of his personal thoughts of his experiences and knowledge should be considered. The delivery of vocal audible edition of his book comes across that he is trying to employ a meditation voice from chapter 16.
