Very entertaining, endless plot twists

I'm a big reader of murder mysteries, and this one quickly became one of my favorites. It's so well plotted, with so many twists and red herrings, but also enough clues scattered along the way that you can pick up on if you read very carefully (or, like me, not pick them up until later when they're pointed out to you...). The characters are great, multidimensional, funny and smart and tender and flawed in endearing ways. It's a great setting for a murder mystery too. I just wish Cooper's Chase were real so I could move there.

Fabulously entertaining!

This is a book to return to, again and again. It's that much fun. When I read the description, I thought, OK. How bad could it be? Well, I was wonderfully surprised by the rich characterizations, twisty plot, and droll wit. It's all good. Try it. I'm am SO glad that I did. And I hear there's another volume in the works. Yay!

Hours in & Bored

About a third of the way in and it’s still so slow. I don’t mind a slow beginning if it’s building up to something (kind of like an Agatha Christie novel) and I’m sure it is, but these senior citizens just keep droning on and repeating themselves. I’ll try to come back to it. For now I need something with a modicum of entertainment.

Difficult to tell who is speaking with narrator

Not only that, it was hard to get into the story. Gave up after five chapters.

Silly but Fun

The murder plot of the novel has a lot of coincidences and you will have to suspend some belief. That said, it reads like a collection of Miss Marples and Captain Hastings are in a retirement village together. It was a lot of fun. And while the murder plot may be a but too convenient, the characters are a hoot. I’ll definitely keep up this series!
