Publisher's summary

Latvian Border Region: A policewoman finds something terrifying. Deep in the forests along the border is proof of a massive Russian invasion plan.

US Embassy, Berlin: Someone is trying desperately to get a message to the CIA. But Kremlin assassins have been activated across three countries to stop them.

New York, USA: A Kremlin sleeper agent is activated with very precise instructions.

The Kremlin has set its plans in motion. Its goal is nothing short of reestablishing the entire USSR, and it is willing to risk World War III in the process. There is only one man who can stop it. But they fear it will cost him his life.

The Target by Saul Herzog is the stunning third instalment in the series that has single-handedly taken the publishing industry and Hollywood rights departments by storm. This dazzling tour de force kicks off right where the second book ended. From the mind of one of the most creative and versatile writers working in America today, this book will surely go down as a classic of the spy thriller genre.

If you listen to only one audiobook this year, this is it. Action, adventure, rebellion, provocative foreign agents, characters you can sink your teeth into. If you're looking for a new spy thriller series that will stay with you, look no further.

Recommended for fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp, Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne, and Brad Thor's Scot Harvath.

So much action

I really enjoy this series and listen with audible. I enjoyed the characters and the story. I always appreciate that the author adds a little historical context in the stories and I enjoy the narrator. He is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Better than watching tv!

I am captivated by these books. The continuing adventures of Lance and crew. The country owes this man everything
and in this book he is recognized if only to a handful of people. The world is safer because of him and his continued losses.
He is as tough as they come and doesn't give up. The authors descriptive writing and the narrators incredible talents make you feel you are there.
It pains me to have to wait for the next Audible release and I hope that Jay continues knocking these books out. I know I can listen to them much faster than he converts them to Audio.
BTW, Kudos to Saul Herzog, he really does read his emails and does respond to some. I find this to be amazingly personable and rare in todays world.
Thank you Saul and thank you Jay.

WOW!

I’m hooked! These books are so amazing and keep me on the edge of my seat. I’m actually learning some of the history I slept through in HS. Sadly, during this time in our world, it’s possible I could learn it in real life. Sure hope not! I dislike politics but it wouldn’t hurt for it to be required reading for people running for office, especially those with their fingers on the trigger. Thanks!

Always good reading or listening

We really like the Lance Spector series. Book 3 is just as good as both previous books. I don’t know how the author, Saul Herzog, can keep coming up with these plots! Excellent listening and thanks to the narrator for that. Believe it or not a narrator that is good is just priceless. Waiting on audible now so we can listen to The Sleeper!

The best of the best

I’ve fallen in love with this guy’s writing. He truly gets the purpose of fiction. Fiction, whose greatest onus is to tell the truth. Good fiction is like a parable. Herzog transplants past events into the modern era and reminds us of what horrors are not only possible, but have been reality. His words don’t dare us to forget. Yet we dare not. An author who gives us entertainment, suspense, clarity, and best of all, heart. Already started on the next sequel. Deede Blake, author of

Another masterpiece of realistic, compelling, page turning fiction.

This was my 2nd Sal Herzog book . I didn’t know if anything’ could surpass my initial read but this splendid followup was even more compelling. I’m hooked and will be looking forward to the next iteration of Lance Spector.

Good series.

Anyone into this "man with a code" thriller genre will be familiar with the themes, but this series (so far, I've only listened to 3) is well-executed. Lots of good detail on the intelligence world, and the plot is well-constructed, with enough bad outcomes for some likeable characters that it's not cartoonist.
