Publisher's summary

Anty Boisjoly is back to fill the gap that overlaps between Ruth Rendell and P. G. Wodehouse, and where Jerome K. Jerome meets Dorothy L. Sayers.

The Tale of the Tenpenny Tontine is another mystifying manor-house stumper for Wodehousian bon-vivant and problem-solver Anty Boisjoly, when his clubmate asks him to determine who died first after a duel is fought in a locked room. The untold riches of the Tenpenny Tontine are in the balance, but the stakes only get higher when Anty determines that, duel or not, this was a case of murder.

Excellent, can't wait for the next one!

I know the info blurb indicates that this is a 6 hour listen but I enjoy the piffle so much that I have to rewind (or whatever it is that you do with mp3 format to go backwards) to re-listen and laugh again. I haven't enjoyed an audiobook this much since the last Karen Baugh Menuhin or previous P.J. Fitzsimmons I heard. Great job once again!

Another triumph!

I so enjoy this series! The names get a little hard to follow in this one, but the characters are well developed and Anty Boisjoly is as delightful as ever. A fun mystery.

Thank you for all the fun

I love this series. These stories hold my interest and exposing who did it at the end is always revealing.

So much fun!

These books are so delightful! The writing is hilariously witty, and the performance is excellent. The endings are a little convoluted, but that doesn't really matter. The stories are sweetly wrapped up, and the journey is so worthwhile!

J' Adore!

Thrilled to bits with the characters, story and narration. So witty sometimes, I laugh aloud. Then think, 'It's a murder.' Then remind myself, it is a story! Fabulous capture of the whole language, and feel of London at the time of the gentleman runabout; one imagines. Thank you P.J. for creating a character P.G. Wodehouse would attempt to sue you over. But, not before shaking your hand in salute of the genuine glory of its originality yet leaning, quite close, brilliance. Do go start at Book 1. Know and love this super fun series.

Most excellent monologue and imagery

Fitz Simmons is like no other writer in commentary on the most mundane of daily life occurrences. An intelligent and thoroughly entertaining read/listen with the perfect narrator… like immersing oneself in Mary Poppin’s chalk pavement picture.

Another fantastic book in the series!

I thoroughly enjoy this series and book 3 is not exception. How clever was Anty ( or the author actually). Like the first 2 books, this was full of mysteries. Whodunit, how, why? I like that the loose ends were all tied up nicely, and everyone got the solution they needed to their problems, including the dog!

The narrator was spot on too! He really brought this book and characters to life. Bring on book 4!

Another enjoyable yarn!

The hillarious interactions of the characters and the overall intriguing plot kept me thoroughly engaged. And the inclusion of another critter with a personality all his own (much like the goat in a previous mystery) made this story complete! Loved it from beginning to end.

Brilliant!

The narrator is wonderful. He manages to capture the dry and understated humor pitch-perfect. No unnecessary. drawn out melodrama, just a snappy delivery that makes the characters quite believable.
The plot is complex, with a great stable of characters who lie and obfuscate with the best of them. The continuing relationship between our protagonist Anty and the story's investigating police detective is sufficiently exasperating but it is fun to have Anty figure out the crime and leave the inspector in his dust.
Quick question - there are at least 2 more of these splendidly fun mystery novels which are not available on Audible. How come?

you must have been saving it for my birthday

The incomparable Tim Bruce enhanced Fitzsimmon's witty and beautiful tale of family greed, lies, and murder. Very highly recommended
