Publisher's summary

The Stone Sky: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

Humanity will finally be saved or destroyed in the shattering conclusion to the post-apocalyptic and highly acclaimed NYT best-selling trilogy that won the Hugo Award three years in a row.

The moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women.

Essun has inherited the power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter, Nassun, and forge a world in which every orogene child can grow up safe.
For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world and accepted what her mother will not admit: that sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

This is the way the world ends...for the last time.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Wow

A stunning ending to a stunning series. Emotional, colorful, and riveting, please consider the ending to The Fifth Gate series.

I found the book track to be a nice addition, but that my personal opinion.

Confusing at times

A decent end to the story but it felt like a lot of core material was crammed into the end.

Excellent ending for an amazing trilogy

The story is well crafted and engaging. The themes are deep and meaningful. The narration is very well done. The music varies from evocative to intrusive and overbearing. A few of the chapters suffer from Hollywood music disease. I prefer not to have my emotions so roughly scripted.

Great epic story, well written, excellent acting

Just finished the trilogy and really enjoyed it all around. The characters are fascinating, if at times confusing to sort out. The multiple story lines that converge in time are a bit confusing at times, but add up to a rich epic story. The voice actor is really outstanding. My only quibble is that the musical background added in the third book is enriching but at times overdone and could have been left out in a few places.

Stunning, beautiful, the soundtrack adds so much!

This series ripped my heart, made me smile and cry, I listened to the entire thing twice in a row because I wanted to be sure I didn't miss a moment. I absolutely loved the Booktrack soundtrack, it added such depth and dimension that I honestly don't know how I'll return to audio books without it. I recommend this series, this author, this narrator, and the Booktrack. Every bit of it was incredible.

4.5/5*

Slightly lower rating this time, because I found Nassun to be so... URGH. She was well written, and reacting as much as a traumatized child would, but glomming so hard onto SCHAFFA? Of all characters? UGH.

This trilogy was incredible from start to finish.

It's got world building but doesn't get bogged down. The characters are unique and voiced accordingly and more importantly their relationships take time to develop and evolve. The real world connection to themes like racism and xenophobia along with general diversity represented by the characters is excellent. There are some parts that make more sense once you have the whole picture, so this is definitely a series you can read more than once and find new Easter Eggs or foreshadowing that you missed initially. Would read again, would recommend.

Perfect Reader for a Perfect Story!

Beautifully written and performed. Jemisin and Miles are both masters of their crafts. They don’t just tell a story, they make you a part of it!

Outstanding!!!

This review is for the whole series:
While reading this series you definitely need to focus or you will get lost... But it is one you will not regret picking up.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Fifth Season - After feeling lost for at least the first 1/3rd of the book, I had to give it 5stars. As I was approaching the end I was totally surprised and that was when everything really made sense. The ending was absolutely enthralling.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Obelisk Gate - Dragged on a little, but continued to keep you engaged.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Stone Sky - The beginning of this book had me unsure of where I was going to land on the scale of enjoyment. It was a little twisty, similar to book 1, but what a phenomenal way to end a story.
