Publisher's summary

Patrick Walsh needs a win.

He needs a good year. He needs something to—finally—go his way. After their father's slow, angry death, the Walsh family's third-generation historic preservation architecture firm is back on its feet and Patrick finally stands at the helm.

Andy Asani is not what Patrick expected from an apprentice. First, she's competent. Not just that, she's scary-brilliant. Second, she's obsessed with historic preservation—and the only person outside of Patrick's partners who shares his passion for crumbling buildings. And most troubling of all, he's obsessed with her. He doesn't need her complicating his life but he wants her more than anything, and she might just cost him everything.

Andy Asani doesn't want to fantasize about her boss. She's not that girl and she doesn't want to turn into that girl. She's too busy kicking ass at her coveted apprenticeship and exploring the best Boston has to offer in hot yoga and cool nightlife. She's not going to throw any of that away because her boss won't stop rolling up his shirtsleeves and glowering at her.

Until she throws it all away. Their plans are about to undergo some major renovations.

she sounds like a robot

Lucy Rivers is terrible. Completely ruined this story for me. She sounds like a robot.

Great Banter and chemistry

The Space Between is the second book about the Boston Walsh family and their architecture firm. I enjoyed the big family dynamics and love the glimpses of each family member's life that runs through these books.
The story focuses on Patrick the "OptimusPrime" of the Walsh family. He has been unable to keep an assistant or apprentice without running them off. Things change with Andy's interview where she is ready for everything he throws at her.

"I couldn’t help it; lame responses kept spewing out while my brain fixated on that voice. If aged whiskey had a sound, it would be Andy’s voice, all heady and rich, with a slow burn as it went down."

With immediate chemistry, fun banter and texts Andy tries to resist a forbidden romance with her boss and all of the messy complications that can and will entail.
I can't wait to dive into the next story and reconnect with my new favorite Boston family.

Two Pathetic Broken Souls

I found The Space Between very depressing, a tale of two pathetically broken people who had no capacity for love, empathy or kindness. Masquerading as a romance, the sexual violence was disturbing, promoting the misogynistic idea that hitting, biting and bruising a sexual partner is acceptable behavior.

Patrick Walsh came from an incredibly dysfunctional family where he and his siblings were emotionally and physically abused by their father. Instead of getting therapy, Patrick expressed his deep-seated anger by beating and degrading Andy (and probably all the bimbos who preceded her). I kept wondering how he would feel if some asshole was beating & abusing one of his sisters.

Andy, who lost her father at an early age, was smart and capable at the office but a pathetic wimp with Patrick. Andy stupidly became involved with Patrick (her new boss) who treated her with total contempt and thoughtless cruelty. It was depressing that Andy actually believed she deserved such brutal treatment.

Besides rough sex, there wasn't much of a plot or anything to hold my interest. Andy hated herself and Patrick hated everyone except his brothers & sisters. The author showed talent but copped out by writing 50 ways to abuse a lover rather than mature, entertaining and non-violent characters.

I couldn't finish this book; if I wanted to hear about senseless suffering I could watch the nightly news: rape, assault, torture, murder, stalkers.

Kate does not hold back on this one…the passion, banter, and ultimate love is amazing. She can write characters that will have you going through so many emotions. Excellent addition to the series. Fantastic listen with amazing narration.

It was ok

Didn't particularly care for the female narrator. She sounded dry and robotic. Love Christian Fox. I may check out the next one.

All sex all the time

I just can’t. If they’re not thinking about sex they are having it. The whole book. I made it through chap 6 and just gave up. I need a good story with a few sex scenes. Not a sex scene with a short story.

Perfect and Quirky

Patrick is the grumpy oldest Walsh sibling and Andy is the cute Quirky intern and Patrick seriously has the hots for her. I loved this book because Patrick was a totally different person with Andy and it was refreshing. They are two broken souls but so perfect for each other. While others avoid Patrick, Andy goes toe to toe with him and that's one of the things that attracts him to Andy, It was hilarious watching their love bloom as they had this push and pull but Patrick fought when he realized he almost messed up and lost the best thing that ever happened to him

A steamy office romance you're gonna love.

Oh how I love a good workplace romance! It was so nice being back in the world of the Walshes. Andie aggressively interviews to be Patrick’s apprentice and of course gets the position. They work so well together and Patrick falls for her brain and her body, her heart and her soul. He’s a goner and even though she resists at first, ultimately fate sealed the deal for them. There’s a little bit of a mystery in this one and I was here for all the little breadcrumbs pointing towards the secrets being unearthed. The heat is nice and spicy too.

This is funny and feely all rolled into one and in true Kate style there are little quirky things throughout the book. I love that Andie is all about kooky knee socks. Aaaaand these guys are food truck aficionados, so I loved all the foodie talk too.

Lucy gives us all the sides of Andie and Christian plays Patrick perfectly. Another great audiobook in a fantastic series.

Fabulous

I love this series & I love this book in particular. I’ve listened to it several times and ration it so I don’t get too familiar with it.
I recommend Kate Canterbary to so many people.

Loved the sibling banter, Andy (lead lady) was not as witty as the author liked to imply, the siblings were fantastic.

Loving the Walsh family

I'm really enjoying the performance of both of the narrators of The Walshes, so happy that the same 2 are continuing for the whole series. Loved Patrick and Andy, and all the Walsh siblings in The Space Between, moving straight onto Necessary Restorations.

There is no story… it’s just a sex novel… nothing to recommend it at all.
