Publisher's Summary

Diana Kelley is a couple's sex therapist with a problem: It’s her job to convince her clients of the importance of sexual and emotional intimacy, but after surviving a toxic relationship with an abusive ex, she's sworn off love and can’t fathom ever making herself vulnerable again. When her best friend, Ava, is injured the night she is scheduled to assist with a hands-on sexual education workshop, Diana is forced to find a short-term replacement. The last thing she wants is a new lover, even a paid one.

After a year of living in the apartment next door, all Jude Monaco knows about her neighbor Diana is that she’s a gorgeous older woman and the inspiration for more dirty fantasies than she cares to admit. So when Diana knocks on her door with a shockingly delicious favor to ask, Jude seizes the opportunity to learn more.

Their professional relationship is supposed to be a clinical erotic arrangement between a sex therapist and her assistant, but at the intersection of sex and intimacy, anything is possible. Even love.

Hot hot hot

Wow what a sexy sexy story, I loved everything about this from the intense heat between Di and Jude as well as the intimacy that developed between them. I know a lot of people will just see this as a smut read but if you take the time to listen to the story that lies within you will see it’s not just all sex.

Oh My

Ms. O'Brien has done it again. I really can't fathom how she's able to come up with the incredibly graphic sex scenes. What a turn on from the get go to the end. Rates right up there with 13 Hours and Night Off.

Interesting story but the narration detracts from it

There were times certain scenes were overly drawn out while others were rushed. I had to skip a head a few times since it seemed that conversations were being repeated ad nauseam. The narration itself was all in the same voice and rather monotone. It was difficult to tell the difference from one character to another and became confusing at times. I think the book would be a better choice than the audio version. As a whole I would purchase this book since I do enjoy Megan O’Brien’s work but I would have opted for the paperback if i had to do it again.

Abby Craden? Lori Prince? Where is the Voice???

So, I am one of your fans that have been waiting for the next Meghan lesbian erotica book. I do not read lesbian erotica often but when in the mood I come looking for your work. I read only lesbian novels now and usually lean towards mystery, thriller and sometimes sci-fi. Truth be told if it has lesbians in it I will read it. I have not finished this book yet and really like the concept and can see how easily this could excite me but... it's the voice, Brittani has a nice voice just not my choice for erotica. These scenes beg for the voices of Abby Craden, Lori Prince or Betsey Z. Those are the voices that stop me dead in tracks and just work. No offense Brittani. Meghan please work with one of those narrators!!!!!!

EARS ON FIRE!!!

Whooo. Quite possibly the hottest book that ever fell on my ears! Ms O'Brien adds yet another rocket to an already impressive arsenal. As usual she delivers wicked sizzling erotic scenes and blends them flawlessly within a fabulous story. Brittni Powers does a wonderful job bringing the characters to life and damn if I didn't shiver anytime she said baby! JUST BUY IT!

Author/story makes up for the narrator

Meghan O'Brien hit it outta the park AGAIN! The narrator was definitely not a fav...however, it's been SO long since O'Brien has had a book released on Audible that I am able to move past the poor narrative.
Please! Keep em comin Ms. O'Brien!

Wonderful

I always enjoy this authors books. She has yet to disappoint. I gave 4 stars on the performance because I personally did not care for the narrator(tho she wasn’t horrible). I think I’ve been spoiled by the gorgeous narrating voices of Alexandria wild and Lori prince.
I really enjoy how Meghan O’Brien works aspects of mental health into her books. The erotic nature of the story was both hot and beautiful. She most definitely has a knack for taking what could just be a shallow erotic short story and turns it into a deep, moving, story with substance that leaves the reader hanging on every word. The characters were very well developed and I found myself rooting for both of them. Thank you once again mrs O’Brien for creating believable characters that the reader or listener can relate to in one way or another. Brilliant work!

So much more than sex.

Most of the reviews talk about the sex in this story. Yes, there is sex. Creating characters that feel real, and the deep, heavy, conflicted emotions those flawed and wounded characters experience is where Meghan O’Brien shines.

The way she describes the abusive relationship with Diana’s ex, how it messes with her heart and her head, the scars left behind, how even an intelligent self-possessed woman can find herself in something like that, all ring true. It displays an understanding of the experience that I’m not sure I’ve ever seen before in fiction.

Brittni Powers (or whatever other pseudonym she uses) is not my favorite narrator. She did better with this one than many others I’ve heard. Less of the halting cadence and upward lilting end to every sentence. In fact, for much of this listen, particularly the most heavy and emotional parts, that was absent entirely. I’d say maybe 80% of the time I enjoyed her performance, was able to lose myself in character and story, and only 20% of the time found myself distracted by her odd reading style.

This was a good story. It has left me with feelings. That is a compliment to the writing and the realness.

The sex, the unconventional relationship between the main characters is the vehicle to tell a much deeper and more moving love story.

My first Meghan O’Brien story was 13 Hours. Now this one. I will for sure be seeking out more from this author. She has a gift for crafting a layered and nuanced tale, for showing an understanding of the human condition.

Wow!

A gem of a book. And Oh...The Heat! Intense in all the right places. How each character grows and comes into their own was absolutely worth it!!
Is definitely on my replay list. Thank you Meghan!

Title Says It All

Honestly, I thought this was going to be superbly written erotica with a flimsy premise holding it together but I've listened several times now and its MAGNIFICENTLY written erotica with well-rounded characters and enough angst to make you worry they won't make their HEA ending. The side characters are well written too, but I cannot stress highly enough how beautifully the sex scenes are written and how they deal with genuine scenarios with care and affection.

Having said all of that the sex is off-the-scale hot and entirely to blame for me looking so focussed at work as I stare at my monitors and blame my age for the hot flushes :)

What a rush, worth the read & so much more.

I a more than pleased to say I found The Sex Therapist Next Door beyond titillating. Wow fuel for the imagination is certainly an understatement. I found myself falling in lust with both Dianna and Jud, and Brittni's voice OMG she was truly amazing. She fluidly changed from one character to the next, all with their distinct personalities and mannerisms, god at times I actually thought there were multiple women recording the audio track, damn Britttni is amasing very talented I put her up there with the likes of Victoria Nicola Vincent. Laura Kirman and Angela Dawe, just to name a few of my favs.
