I liked the concept of being a scientist, and studying cultivation from that viewpoint.

I didn't really enjoy the standard cultivation side of the story though. I think I would have enjoyed more time jumps in that aspect, although I've read a lot of cultivation stories, so maybe others who have not would not feel that way.

I can see myself spending credit on the next one, but if it were available right now I would not get it immediately.

I really enjoyed it until about halfway through, then 2 hours of boredom, then more enjoyment.

The character way of thinking is interesting and I have enjoyed the story so far, however it has not been captivating enough to motivate me to continue to finish the book. I might try to finish it another time

Interesting but got bored midway

The MC is interesting. I enjoyed his scientific method approach to learning how to cultivate better. There are a lot of tropes from traditional Chinese xianxia but that is part of the fun. Overall it was an enjoyable read. The narrator does a good job.

A fun, slow-burn xianxia

I found this read very interesting for its differing approach to cultivation. Science the F out of it. This is not however some nerdfest (at least from the standpoint of boring science, its FUN science). This is science like Bill Nye brought us. Not science like some boring middle school teacher science.

No credits will be wasted here!

Super fun take on cultivation

Now while it might happen in later books, this one doesnt really deliver on the premise. It was supposed to be a scientist using his lab to discover the mysteries of cultivation.
Besides one minor breakthrough that already has a very common work around. At least in this book he doesnt really do anything big.

It really is more just the typical cultivation story with a bit more open of a mind.

Still a good read but I had hoped for more. Some ground breaking discovery that gave him a massive advantage.
Also one character has a stutter which really doesnt translate to audibook well as it breaks flow. Nothing against real disability but a fictional one that you have to parse in a book? Can get tedious.

Slow but enjoyable
