Publisher's summary

"The right way is the one where we end up together...And to do that, we need to survive this".

A brilliant, obsessive mind is the heart of Sebastian Seaver’s genius. It might also be the thing that costs him everything he’s created and everyone he’s ever loved. Consumed with the need to destroy Alexei Stornovich, the Russian mob boss who murdered his fiancée and parents, nothing can turn Bas from his plans of revenge until he’s eradicated every last one of them. By any means necessary, and at any cost.

Drew McMann learned early that the key to success is control. Control carried him through law school and helped him keep Seaver Tech together through tragedy. It helped him survive the brutal murder of his sister Amy, his parents’ divorce, and the revelation that the seeds of their destruction had been planted by someone he had considered family. It’s how he’s hidden his love from his best friend Bas for more than half their lives. And now it’s how he’s going save Bas from himself and finally get his family of friends free from Alexei’s clutches. Drew has a plan for everything...Until the kiss.

When Drew loses control one reckless, drunken evening and his true feelings for Bas are revealed, he tries desperately to contain the damage and keep their friendship on track, even as decades of lies and half-truths seek to tear them apart. With Alexei targeting them and their friends, Drew and Bas are forced to rely on each other more than ever. But as danger closes in on them, can they sacrifice their needs for logic and control, and recognize that the only right way to move forward is the one in which they’re together?

I was so looking forward to this book to come out in audible.

Michael Dean didn’t disappoint. Good story when I read it but even better to listen to it. Great series.

The final conclusion of The Way Home Trilogy

I enjoyed this book. If I had to rate the series from favorite onward, I'd say the first book was my favorite, the second book my second favorite, and this one my third favorite. This book is necessary to get to the final conclusion, the denouement, with everything leading up to the end of this last book of the trilogy.
There's a great deal of suspense, danger, smoking hot moments, and an almost excessive amount of sweetness. I did feel though that this book was a bit watered down, with a few too many "I can't believe this is happening," and "I never thought we'd be together," type sentiments, either with the characters thinking it or saying it out loud. I also felt that each character's personality traits, like being impulsive or a "control freak," got mentioned a few too many times. I also felt like aspects of their personalities were slightly incongruous with how they'd been portrayed in previous books, although I'm pretty sure that's because they were in a different place, that events had changed them - and we were getting to see how they were from their own perspectives, not those with less insight.
With respect to the continuing storyline of the murders of Drew's sister and Sebastian's parents and the crime family involved, there was a LOT of suspense and it wasn't entirely predictable, though I was able to guess at some of the villainy. I did feel that a couple opportunities were lost and avenues unexplored with the bad guys, silently thinking, "BUT WHAT ABOUT....?!"
The narration was good - I don't envy the narrator the task of such a large nearly all-male cast to voice and differentiate voices. I'm not entirely sure if each character was consistent across all 3 books, since I listened to them as they came out, causing there to be a fairly sizeable gap in time between my listens. If/when I re-listen, I'll be able to tell better.
All my little quibbles aside, again, I did enjoy this book and I'm glad I listened to this series. (And if there's ever a spin-off, I'm all in).

A stunning conclusion to a brilliant series!

An amazing end to this brilliant series!!
This book seamless ties up all loose ends and we get Sebastian and Drew's story as well.

It was a bittersweet listen knowing this is going to be the end of this trilogy.

I absolutely adore this series.
Michael Dean does an exceptional and near flawless audio delivery.

If you like a steamy action packed romantic suspense. I definitely recommend this entire series!!

A great conclusion!

It’s Drew and Sebastian’s turn for a chance at a HEA. Well, if Sebastian can get his head out of the lab long enough to realize it.

It was also time to tie up loose ends and finish things so our beloved gentlemen can ride off into the sunset.

This was such a fun series, and I thoroughly enjoyed the action, angst, and mystery aspects that May Archer included in it. Yet, it still had the feel good quality I expect from her. The storyline flowed flawlessly from book one all the way to book three.

Michael Dean did another wonderful job giving voice to these gentlemen. I did notice that Cain mysteriously had a deeper voice this go ‘round though. It was very different than his voice in book two. That said, it didn’t detract from enjoying the narration.

Best in the Trilogy

I very much enjoyed this series and this was my favorite. Sweet, sexy, romantic with a HEA. Perfectly narrated, as usual, by Michael Dean. Highly recommend!

read all three books...

book 1 the easy way
book 2 the long way
book 3 the right way

My take here: Storywise, the premise wasn't bad. I did like the background plot involving the fathers' sins which led to their sons future demise. But that's about all I found interesting. This is really just another typical romance series with some tiny wee bit of mobster and crime as a backdrop. I prefer more substance to my plots and characters. Because really, despite their dire and deadly situation, the characters spent a whole lot of time with too many dialogues about feelings. And some of the climatic action scenes, (not the sex mind you because well that there was plenty), but the plot actions were glossed over or written off page. I'm not a fan of authors who do this, I think it's lazy writing, but in the romance genre I've found that it's a norm. And lastly, I found this to be too life-preachy towards the end - not really my thing. Anyway May Archer is a first for me and, though I'm not tossing this one out completely, I'm in no hurry to pick up another one of this author's work.

As for the narrator - he did a good job as usual.
