Publisher's summary

A newly single girl. A tall dark handsome stranger. What could go wrong?

It’s seven a.m. on a Monday morning, and Abby Reynolds isn’t where she wants to be. She wants to be in her beautiful loft apartment in Manhattan, drinking a coffee with her fiancé.

Instead, she’s heading back to her childhood home in rural Ireland - the place she swore she’d never return to, with some big, old secrets. Namely, that she’s suddenly found herself unemployed, homeless, and absolutely 100 percent single.

She’s feeling all out of luck. Until the first person she meets after she touches down is an absurdly hot guy called Luke who offers her a lift home. Gazing deep into his sparkling emerald green eyes, Abby knows instantly that he’s exactly what she needs to take her mind off everything. The perfect rebound.

It’s a flawless plan. Until the next day, when Abby realizes who he actually is. Not just a stranger. He is, in fact, Luke Bailey, a.k.a. the boy next door. Luke Bailey who - so help her God - she’s pretty sure she once shared baths with, back when they were kids. Not that she can allow herself to imagine him in a bath now, not without blushing from head to foot.

And judging by the smirk on his face, the same Luke Bailey who’s known exactly who she was the whole time.... And who, like everyone in the village, still thinks she’s a high-flying New Yorker who’s getting married next year.

Abby is certain that getting under Luke will help her get over her ex. But the truth is stopping her. Can she admit to everyone back home that she’s single and has lost everything? Because if she wants the boy next door, she may just have to....

The perfect feel-good romantic comedy that will make you laugh until you cry and completely fall in love.

Very Enjoyable Listen

New author to me and I loved it. Funny, interesting and likable characters with a little steam. Refreshing rom-com that was actually funny and I appreciated the untold feelings and secrets were not the whole story and did not drag on like so many romance books. Narrator did a great job as well.

eh...not good

The story is predictable and the narrator is overly dramatic and speaks in a stilted manner, which makes the story less believable & hard to listen to, with many stop & go pauses. I was halfway through the story when i became impatient for the story to be over...the author made everything very convenient for the main character & there was no real conflict/problem. I did not enjoy this at all.

Great romance!

I read a lot of romances and this is the best one I’ve read in a long time. I loved everyone of the characters. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and now I am going to read all of the others. Yay, I’m excited.! oh, I mustn’t forget that the narrator was fantastic. I’ll be looking up her other books as well.

Great characters

I often find characters in this book genera to be so frustrating, and this was not the case here. The ‘I’m not good enough’ dilemma they always go through was absent here which I appreciated. I loved the story, the characters, the humor and performance!

Predictable

Couldn't finish it. Same old same old. Narrator also does a terrible voice for Luke.

Abby is the perfect protagonist

I had no idea how Catherine Walsh could follow the incredible One Night Only, but absolutely delighted to find myself falling in love with Abby, the protagonist, as much as I'd fallen for her previous book's love interest. This book is written through Abby's first person narration, and I loved getting to know her - recognising myself in her, being frustrated by her flaws, and imagining myself in her shoes as she hurtles through a gripping new romance. There's a realness to Abby that's so hard to find in any genre, and Walsh nails her contemporary Irish lead and all her supporting characters, including Luke (the "rebound") and her distant sister, Louise. If you like your OMGWACA books you will love this.

Best narrator

A refreshingly romantic story of finding love and also finding yourself. The Irish narration is amazing too.

Likeable characters with good narration

Always enjoy an Irish accent!

Story was not particularly gripping or packed with plot, but characters were mature, likeable and warm with good chemistry which made it enjoyable. A laid back read.

Great romcom

Uncomplicated back story but characters had incredible chemistry. Thoroughly enjoyed and well narrated. Breezed through it.
