Robin's Rebels

Daniel and Robin are leading separate groups of rebels with the same mission: to secure their country's freedom. As their groups unite together to try and overthrow the king, we see Robin and Daniel's relationship come together too.

We can anticipate some aspects of the novel, like the inevitability of a relationship between Daniel and Robin; however, there are a number of things that we definitely don't see coming AT ALL.

It is always a pleasure to have a strong and confident female main character, and Robin definitely fits the bill. I also love that Robin is versatile and can be sort of "tomboyish" or classy.

There is also good amount of action and a healthy dose of adventure throughout this light clean romance. Great quality writing, with an interesting plot.

Carolyn Kashner does a great job narrating, as usual!

Looking forward to the next by this author and narrator duo!

I received a review copy of the book and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

The Rebels of Cordovia

What a sweet and endearing tale. Clarke combines an exciting plot with intriguing characters for a definite winning start to this series. I loved how the underlying theme of morality shines through without overpowering the plot of the tale. At the same time, the characters themselves are such god people that you can't help but fall in love with them. Throughout the entire tale, Clarke's inviting voice shines through, inviting readers deep into the troublesome world that her characters find themselves living in.

This is definitely a fairy tale with a twist (or four). It's a heartfelt tale that will be fun for all ages.

Very enjoyable listen...

Would you consider the audio edition of The Rebels of Cordovia to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the book, only listened to the audio version. I like audio books because I can multitask while also listening.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the fact that it was clean. It wasn't full of graphic sex or violence, it was just a good story with good character development.

What about Carolyn Kashner’s performance did you like?

I liked the fact that she actually gave the characters their own voice - to me that's a sign of a good performance, when you don't have to figure out who's talking (again).

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This story is compelling and there have been times where I almost wish that my commute was slightly longer so that I could find out what would happen next, sadly, I just can't listen all at one time.

Any additional comments?

This is a solid book and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. My only "complaint" is that the characters seem a little too perfect, but then again, no one wants to listen to an extremely depressing book, and the characters where very entertaining overall.

Great story!

The Rebels of Gordovia is sweet romance novel of two people wanting to free their country from an evil, hateful ruler. Robin, the heroine of the story disguise herself as a man-thus many people she is --and along with her follow rebels do everything in their power to make the King's life miserible by taking the money from the tax collectors. Thus, they are called Robin's Rebels. It was a chance meeting of another group of rebels that things change for Robin and she finds herself falling for the leader, Daniel. There are many twists and turns in this story but it so enjoyable to listen to and the ending will surprise you. This is the first story of Linder Weaver Clarke I had the pleasure of listening to and will certainly seek out her other novels to read and listen too. The narrator did a great job narrating this story, she took you into each character being.

Entertaining Female Robin Hood Story!

Any additional comments?

The Rebels of Cordovia is a very entertaining and enjoyable Robin Hood story. It has action, adventure, and a little romance. It also includes a little mystery due the disappearance of the son of the former king (years before the story begins) who was beloved by all. Where is he now and why hasn’t he returned to Cordovia to overthrow the tyrant who is ruling over Cordovia with an iron fist and who taxes his subjects into extreme poverty?

I became engaged in the Rebels of Cordovia and characters almost immediately. The heroine is the daughter of the local baker, who also leads a small group of vigilantes that fight for basic freedoms and rights. Like the legendary Robin Hood, they steal from the rich and give back to the poor. The story is basically how she and another vigilante leader unite all the various rebel groups and overthrow the vile king. They also fall in love in the process.

I listened to the Audible version of this story narrated by Carolyn Kashner and enjoyed it tremendously. She did a great job narrating with varying voices for both male and female characters. Thankfully this story is the first book in The Rebels series by Linda Weaver Clarke, so I can look forward to listening to other great adventures in this compelling audiobook series!

A New Twist on Robin Hood

This book takes place in the fictional land of Cordovia, a country under the thumb of a terrible king. He usurped the throne from the rightful ruler and has oppressed the people with increasingly high taxes and unfair laws. His soldiers terrorize the poor people, and only aristocrats are safe from his oppression.

More and more rebel groups are popping up in each town, among them The Freeman, led by Daniel, and Robin's Rebels, led by Robin. Daniel intends to merge all the local rebel groups to create a force large enough to overthrow the king, but Robin's Rebels remains a holdout. When Daniel challenges Robin to an archery contest to determine whether or not the groups will merge, he doesn't realize that the masked man he challenges is the beautiful woman he recently met and fell for.

I really enjoyed this lighter fantasy romance, it was a nice change of pace from more hard core fantasy but also had more drama than a traditional romance. Robin and Daniel were characters you want to root for, and there were also many side characters with large personalities like Robin's father. There were so many funny scenes that put a smile on my face. It was an entertaining listen!

The narrator did a great job, I've listened to her before and her narration is always enjoyable. She has a calm easy pace that pulls me into the story. I received a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Entertaining Audible book!

I have to admit, I am starting to get spoiled with all the great books that can be found on Audible.com. I love the fact that you can plug-in the headset and listen without turning pages or holding a book. It's wonderful! I was so excited to get this copy of The Rebels of Cordovia by Linda Weaver Clarke. It's a great read and the narrator, Carolyn Kashner has a very pleasant voice, with plenty of expression and great vocal changes to help identify the characters.

I so enjoyed this fun book! It has adventure, romance, a little mystery, history and action. No boring moments here. Linda Weaver Clarke's Audible book is really entertaining and enjoyable. And it has a great ending! Which I won't tell you about because you really need to get this book.

Rebels for the cause of the people, Robin and her rebels have to decide whether or not to join forces to protect the rights of the people. Placed back in the days of wicked and oppressive kings, the rebels work together for the freedoms of the common people. Will they succeed against the governing forces?

The romance is sweet and the action is plenty. I highly recommend this entertaining book!

Robin of Cordovia

Times have changed in Cordovia and the people are restless, wanting things to go back to the flourishing times of the past. Few people remember these times, but there is one person who has shared the history of Cordovia with his daughter. She has a vision for the future and a heart for the people. Add in a bit of romance, intrigue and combat and you have a book that is hard to put down.

Good book! Mostly clean!

I enjoyed this book. I really liked the story line-even though it’s not my usual type of book to read.

The story of Robin Marie and Daniel is a sweet story that will make just about anyone want to continue listening to hear what happens.

This is a story similar to Robin Hood (steal from the rich, give to the poor) with a love story thrown in, and a kingdom being overthrown. I really enjoyed it and felt it was very well written and very well narrated.

My only downside to the whole thing was a quick little swear word that didn’t even need to be in the story that was randomly thrown in. I prefer 100% clean stories and this was nearly there, besides the one needless swear word.

Overall, good book! I’ll be listening to the second in the series right away.

I was given this book in exchange for my honest review.
