Acerca de esta escucha
On a dark night in 1775, Lizzie Boylston is awakened by the sound of cannons. From a hill south of Boston, she watches as fires burn in Charlestown, in a battle that she soon discovers has claimed her husband's life.
Alone in a new town, Lizzie grieves privately but takes comfort in her deepening friendship with Abigail Adams. Soon, word spreads of Lizzie's extraordinary midwifery and healing skills, and she begins to channel her grief into caring for those who need her. But when two traveling patriots are poisoned, Lizzie finds herself with far more complicated matters on her hands - she suspects a political plot intended to harm Abigail and her family. Determined to uncover the truth, Lizzie becomes entangled in a conspiracy that could not only destroy her livelihood - and her chance at finding love again - but also lead to the downfall of a new nation.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

Historia
Little River, New York, 1994: April Sawicki is living in a motorless motorhome that her father won in a poker game. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.

No matter what the world throws her way, at least Ruthie Beamish has the house. Lovingly renovated, located by the sea in a quiet Long Island village, the house is her nest egg - the retirement account shared with her ex-husband, Mike, and the college fund for their teenage daughter, Jem. The catch? To afford the house, Ruthie must let it go during the best part of the year. It's Memorial Day weekend, and Ruthie has packed up their belongings for what Jem calls "the summer bummer": the family's annual exodus to make way for renters.

They are no longer characters, but family.
What did you love best about The Midwife's Revolt?
I was surprised, I think, by the mystery. I didn't expect one. The mystery didn't take over, just intrigued me more and more, until I HAD to know (I wont spoil it for you though;).
What did you like best about this story?
The characters... I truly felt distinct personalities with each one. I LOVE me some Abigail. She's been an important "friend" in the last two books I've heard. I had no idea I would like her so much; I had no prior opinion, or prior knowledge to speak of. She has been unexpected. Now, I must know more about her.
What about Julia Whelan’s performance did you like?
She is great at female characters. Her male voice is very good too, though not distinct. In other words, it's a great voice but they (the men) all sound the same. It's not a huge issue; the writer makes it clear.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not extreme, but it did make me appreciate the fruit in my kitchen more. It reminds me how hard war affects those who aren't in uniform. It makes me want to put in a garden and milk the cow... ;-)

Mediocre
Narration seemed a bit flat at times but otherwise okay. The story was good and did well at blending facts and fiction.

Great fictional history
And not all fiction! Not to spoil, I will just say that this is a testament to the bravest of women and I was left with a swelling heart. Awesome listen, I will be looking for more from Jodi Daynard!

Absolutely loved
I so enjoyed all aspects of this novel. From the author to the reader it was tastefully written and read. The language was clean and as she said at the end..one can’t tell the difference between fact and fiction. It has peaked my curiosity for more historical information and the people who struggled and fought for the liberties of the USA.

Wonderful Historical Fiction
Good $5 sale that l have owned for way too many months. I buy more than l can actually get to listen. This is no longer a genre l buy but this was so well written and if you are like me, a fan of Ms Whelan aka Sophie Eastlake, then you buy on a great sale.
Geez, l have so many of Ms Whelan reads yet to get to listen, sometimes l don’t know which direction to take. If you enjoyed a Band of Sisters, then this book is for you. Ms Whelan 2015 male voices in this story are wonderful. Although I enjoyed this story I will not be buying book 2 and three as they seem to be more of a historical romance than just fiction plus I don’t know the narrators and I don’t wish to explore new ones. I buy most books by narrator.

Engaging historical fiction
I picked this book as part of Kindle unlimited audiobooks. Having just developed a taste for revolutionary history the summary of this book caught my eye. I'm so glad it did. I rate this not as a free book book but as a novel I would have expected to pick up at my local bookstore.
The characters are well developed and even the supporting cast is rich with personally and weave well within the story.
