Acerca de esta escucha

This book is about the great moral issues underlying many of the headline-making political controversies of our times. It is not a comforting book but a book about disturbing and dangerous trends. The Quest for Cosmic Justice shows how confused conceptions of justice end up promoting injustice, how confused conceptions of equality end up promoting inequality, and how the tyranny of social visions prevents many people from confronting the actual consequences of their own beliefs and policies. Those consequences include the steady and dangerous erosion of fundamental principles of freedom - amounting to a quiet repeal of the American revolution. The Quest for Cosmic Justice is the summation of a lifetime of study and thought about where we as a society are headed - and why we need to change course before we do irretrievable damage.

Lo que los oyentes dicen sobre The Quest for Cosmic Justice

Con calificación alta para:

The Audiobook "the Quest For Cosmic Justice" By Thomas Sowell Presents An Insightful And Thought-provoking Analysis Of The Concept Of Social Justice And Its Potential Dangers. Through Relevant Examples And Accessible Writing, Sowell Compellingly Argues Against The Pursuit Of Cosmic Justice, Which He Defines As The Desire To Achieve Equal Outcomes Rather Than Equal Opportunities. He Warns That This Quest Often Leads To Unintended Consequences And A Consolidation Of Power That Undermines Constitutional Principles. While The Book Offers Compelling Arguments, Some Listeners Find It Repetitive At Times And Criticize Its Conservative Bias, Oversimplified Viewpoints, And Dismissive Tone Towards Opposing Perspectives. Nonetheless, The Book Explores Important Themes Surrounding Social Justice, Equality, The Role Of Government, And The Potential Erosion Of Foundational American Ideals.

Unparalleled

An Absolutely eye-opening book with a multitude of fantastic insights which are mostly overlooked or misrepresented in modern discourse. Thank you very much Dr. Sowell

Brilliant.

I left with an understanding of why some people have fundamentally different conceptions of justice and progress. This book is just as relevant today in 2020 as it was in 1999.

A lesson in Democracy

Sowell, one of the great thinkers of all times, describes the coming downfall of America. How personal emotions have led to a shift in favor of democracy to a socialist platform.

This is the best book I have ever read about inequality and the effect of preferences

This is the best book I have ever read about inequality and the effects of preferences, discrimination both for and against groups of people. Worldwide they have caused a great deal of dissent and discrimination and have not helped to solve the problem that they were aims toward. In the United States blacks were rapidly getting themselves out of abject poverty between 1960 and 19 I’m sorry 1900 1940 and 1960 the rate of poverty decreased by half. Then the civil rights movements , preferences and the great society programs were instituted in the mid-60s and progress slowed greatly and leveled out. We have meant well but have hurt people more than helped it seems. I highly recommend this book it is well written and well documented.

Profoundly Brilliant

Yes this book is more than 20 years old, but it is timeless, every bit as applicable as it was in 1999. My thinking has been stretched and educated. Dr. Sowell is one of the great thinkers of our time. Please listen!

Great perspectives, flat vocally

The book was great, but the reader was rather monotone. That said, I am still the better for having listened!
