Resumen del Editor

Economic Facts and Fallacies is designed for people who want to understand economic issues without getting bogged down in economic jargon, graphs, or political rhetoric. Writing in a lively manner that does not require any prior knowledge of economics, Thomas Sowell exposes some of the most popular fallacies about economic issues, including many that are widely disseminated in the media and by politicians: fallacies about urban problems, income differences, male-female economic differences, academia, race, and Third World countries.

While all of these fallacies have a certain plausibility that gives them their staying power, this makes it even more important to carefully examine their flaws. Sowell holds these beliefs under the microscope and draws conclusions that are sure to inspire rigorous debate.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Sowell is fearless and invariably so far ahead of the curve in discussing economics or politics or pretty much anything that the rest of us are left with eating his intellectual dust. I can't think of a higher compliment that that." (Fred Barnes, Executive Editor, Weekly Standard)

Sound Logic vs Good Intentions & Self Interest

Empirical fact and sound Logic are the enemy of the ill-fated good intentions & self Interest of those in positions of power & influence.
Clear, sober thinking rules the day here as usual when it comes to anything from Thomas Sowel.

Amazing !!!

Excellent content, easy to follow, highly recommend it!
Narrator's execution is engaging but allows you to process the information because it's evenly spaced.
Once you get pass the only weakness I saw in the beginning where there's like three fully explanations of the same thing. Which who knows it's probably meant so people with different experiences connect but if a person connects with all three creates a little hesitation to speed forward or re-consider if all the content it's the same.
Thanks, Audible , Tom, Jeff and everybody who credit is well deserve!

Boring narrator

I liked the information but couldn’t handle the narration. It was like a bad monotone lecture where you know the information is good but the voice actually interferes with the message. I couldn’t make it past 2 hours.

Informed.

Very well presented. Information was concise, and tied to each chapter very elegantly. I am grateful for the information.

critical information for good decisions!

At 66 years of age I feel like I bought into information that simply was not true. If we are to better members of society this book is a must read!

Revealing and Brilliant

Sowell is a genius. This is how I define anyone who makes the difficult appear easy and obvious.

Often one has a sense or sees with their own eyes that rhetoric does not match reality, but we suppress that thought since certain cause and effect relationships seem to be broadly accepted givens. Sowell wrests you mind from such lazy acceptance and not only reveals why many assumptions about nations and economies are false but gives you the tools to be more critical of data and claims being made in other areas as well. This book is a necessary read for anyone who wishes to wear the title of "adult."

Excellent

Thomas Sowell is always elegant, precise, and objective in his writings. This book in particular does a great service in breaking down many of the lies and preconceived notions of our time and our past.

Great Book by Great Thinker

The theme could be that it is not the things you don't know that create most problems, but the things you think you know but are false that create the real problems.

Dr. Sowell explains the common fallacies that undermine our thinking.
