Story
In this culmination of his life's work, Peter A. Levine draws on his broad experience as a clinician, a student of comparative brain research, a stress scientist, and a keen observer of the naturalistic animal world to explain the nature and transformation of trauma in the body, brain and psyche. In an Unspoken Voice is based on the idea that trauma is neither a disease nor a disorder but rather an injury caused by fright, helplessness, and loss that can be healed by engaging our innate capacity to self-regulate high states of arousal and intense emotions.

Publisher's summary
You can dissect and analyze your issues for decades, but nothing will actually resolve them and change your life like The Presence Process.
Author Michael Brown shows us how it's possible to experience awareness of the present moment without having to take the long, challenging path most of us usually take as we attempt to live in the "now".
We all long to be free of our discomfort and experience inner peace. However, the attempt to get rid of our discomfort is misguided. We're not broken and don't need to be "healed". Our difficulty is that our deeply suppressed emotional imprints from childhood distract us from an awareness of the present moment. Until this emotional charge from our past is integrated, our attempts to quiet our thoughts and access the peace, joy, and love that are bedrock to our being are of only limited success. Since presence is universal, it has the ability to manifest in our daily experience the very circumstances required for us to integrate the dysfunction that keeps us from experiencing the radiance of present moment awareness. We are each responsible for determining the quality of our personal experience, and The Presence Process guides us in taking responsibility for our emotional integration. It's a way to consciously "grow up".

Not very happy
What would have made The Presence Process better?
The audio book is missing week 5 of the process, in the chapter list it plays week 4 as chapter 8, it then goes to chapter 9, which should be week 5, but it actually plays week 6, it's missing week 5.
Any additional comments?
See comments above, I'm not very happy, I've gotten to the critical part of the process and it's missing a whole week. I would like to have this situation fixed if possible.

Great work but narrated by someone on speed 😨
A great process by Michael brown but narrated by someone who should never give it a try again. Couldn't keep on listening, not relaxing at all, he just talks the book as quickly he can without a pause to let things sink in. Made me nervous at all times so really not what's meant to be doing. Read the book instead.

Missing week number 5?
As of Dec 2016- this version still missing week 5. As a practice that is meant to be guided weekly, I find this disappointing that it was overlooked and then not corrected despite previous comments here.
Otherwise, a month in I find the process rewarding and am inspired by the promise of the benefits.
The idea of becoming more present, getting better at feeling, and integrating feeling rather than distracting or escaping is just the right timing in my life. I assume the premise to be correct: that uninterested feeling is the cause of disfunction in our lives. And that harmony arises as emotions become integrated through felt sense.
As a bodyworker, specifically watsu, this resonates with me and what I experience in my work, both as a therapist and receiver : integrating feeling results in freedom.

Great book!!!!!
I originally purchased the Kindle book, noticed the reviews said that the audio book was missing a chapter and two were out of order, but it they must have fixed it recently, because I listened to those chapters while following the kindle (not as immersion reading inside the kindle) and they were all there!
Wish I had the audio version when I had first purchased the book! It would have helped with the resistance I had then.
Note: Changing the speed works best on Android devices vs Apple devices. Since I had already read the book more than once as a kindle the speed of this author didn't affect my experience with the book.
I must say this is the best book to integrate any childhood traumatic experiences!! It was recommended to me by someone who had done Ayahuasca and it was recommended to him where he did Ayahuasca for it's powerful integrative abilities.

I wish this was read by Michael Brown!
I so appreciate this book, the truths in it, the integrity of the process. I have to admit at the time of writing this review I haven't actually tried the process yet, but I intend to. I have done similar work in other contexts - and it works. I highly recommend this book for anyone on the spiritual or personal growth journey, or anyone just starting to "wake up". But but but but but I do soooooooo wish that Michael had read this himself. I'm perplexed as to why they chose a different reader. I'm guessing it's for the fancy english accent? I'm not sure. I find it a constant distraction to 'translate' the reader's voice to Michael's voice. It's not a bad read, don't get me wrong; it's a voice I can listen to, and I appreciate that David - according to Michael's introduction - has deep familiarity with the work. But I feel that everything Michael is saying about making this process available to all, not training "presence process teachers" etc etc... would have been better supported by Michael also reading his own book. To me his voice is fine, and would have been great to hear his book in his voice. But at the end of the day, it's a minor haggle; I'm grateful for this book, and it's a book better experienced through audio imo. Thank you!

Powerful way to release buried emotions
The Presence Process works! I used it and taught it to my brother and both of use were able to release charged emotions that were holding us back. This is not to say we are finished as this process continues until all suppressed emotions are integrated. Is it easy? No. It can bring up uncomfortable memories and feelings. Is it worth it? YES! You will be more integrated and less triggered every time you do it.
If I had to choose one book with the most potential for improving your quality of life this is it. Get the book. Follow the instructions. Free yourself.

Very poor recording
I very much wanted to listen to this book, having heard many positive things about it, so I really tried to stick with it, but found the recording just too obtrusive, and have been forced to give up. The reader takes it too fast, and has an urgent, hectoring tone which left me feeling anxious at the end of each listening session. The recording itself has been made in a room which echoes, which is also distracting and unpleasant. Sad to have to give up, but found I couldn't keep on trying.

Mind Numbing
I should start of by saying There’s a lot of valuable information in here, padded out by hours of waffle & relentless repetition....
An abridged version would be so much more useful, and less arduous to listen to.. the narrator will have you reaching for the bottle, he’s that bad.
The author really should have read the entire book, not just the foreword.
In a nutshell, the book was so bad it put me off the actual process itself.. But I did feel happier once I’d finally finished listening..🙏
Knowing I’d never hear that voice again

Beyond profound-a must read in personal development
I’ve read most of the best-sellers in the genre over the last 20 years. This may be the single most important and profound in its effect-pure magic for those who are ready to receive and integrate. Gets straight to the cause of human suffering in modern society
Great delivery as well. I slowed it down to .9 so I could digest-still required lots of rewind and replay but that due to my focus, not the narrator

Albeit this book & its language is 30yrs old and sometimes repetitive and a schlepp to complete, I would highly recommend anyone listening to the very end and follow this present moment awareness process by integrating unintegrated emotional charges from our childhood.
It’s like a summary of what has followed in transpersonal psychology the next 30yrs. Bravo.
Narrator is a bit ‘stressed’ unfortunately - but dense to record..

best book I've ever read
I have read many self help/healing books, I feel now I no longer need any of them or any in the future, yes it is that good.

Life changing
I’ve been “doing the work” for 20 years now.
THIS is a game changer.
I started with the physical book and quickly bought this audio to deepen & support my journey even further.
My life will never be the same and I now share the basic principle with all that I work with in my private holistic integration/spiritual embodiment services.
May all Beings be blessed with This. Here. Now.

The rest I have been seeking for.
Clearly explained and given so lovingly. Gentle explanation and feeling transformed by every chapter. Go through it all.

I have no words to describe this experience
It certainly is a process to experience what is contained in this book - the practice of breathing daily & nightly can be challenging & this is only one part of this process! It certainly has been life altering for me. Thank you ❤️

Life changing, a book for life!
This book resonated with me so much. I’ll be going through the process experientially periodically for the rest of my life, for the upkeep of my emotional world. I was in a very dark and painful place when I came to this book, and the perceptual frame work and tools it offers helped me in ways I hadn’t thought possible. This teaches life skills that I believe we can all benefit greatly from practicing. The narration is too fast and a bit harsh, I listen on 0.55 speed.

Great book and process
Love this book. I have the hard copy also. It’s a shame the author didn’t narrate the whole book. Such a lovely voice, much easier to listen too

Transformative
This book has completely changed my life, and the way I approach any situation. Completing the process was not an easy journey, because going deep uncovered some important aspects of myself that I had not recognized before.
For the reader, the outcome for completing this incredible book is a whole new understanding of yourself and humanity as a whole. It will bring forgiveness and more compassion. It will give you the tools to build your emotional intelligence and resilience. If everyone completed The Presence Process I’m convinced the world would be a better, more peaceful place. Read it, if you’re ready to change your life story.

One of the Best Books You'll Read
I loved this book so much - but the narration was so fast and the narrator's accent so curbed and strange that it was really distracting. After a few chapters, I had to buy the Kindle version - and then from there I bought the paperback version (edition 2 is updated).
I don't recommend the Audible at all, but I do recommend the book as a MUST READ for those who are called. Some books are for savouring, for really taking in - and this one is one of them. One that it experiential, one that you'll read and re-read many times and get something new each time. One where Michael's words awaken something that you know as the Truth inside you. As ACIM student, this is like ACIM accessible text (but makes no mention) - a book based in non-duality, on emotional integration, and takes you on the personal journey for the Truth of who we really are.
Also, Michael, if you're reading this - you have such a beautiful voice. Why would you not read your own book? Please re-record the Audible version because this really is abysmal. It made me want to narrate Audible books. :D Blessings. <3

Story
From the first persecutions of the Jews in the fourth century to the horrors of the Holocaust, from Israel-bashing in today's press to anti-Semitism spouted from the pulpit, this painful book tells the tragic story that every Christian must listen to. In a freshly updated and expanded edition of this pivotal work, Dr. Michael Brown exposes the faulty theological roots that opened the door to anti-Semitism in church history, explaining why well-meaning believers so often fall into the trap of hate...and showing how you can bring an end to the cycle of violence.
