Publisher's Summary

Have you spent weeks, months, or even years trying to achieve your goals but keep failing? Have you given up on becoming successful because your futile efforts have led you to believe that success is only for the select few?

If you have answered “yes” to any of these questions - don’t worry, there is still hope for you!

Before you can achieve anything in life, you need a solid foundation of self-discipline. Talent, intelligence, and skill are only a part of the equation. Positive thinking, affirmations, and vision boards are only a part of the equation. If you want to turn your dreams into reality, you need self-discipline.

Self-discipline is what will keep you focused when all hell is breaking loose, and it looks like you are one step away from failure. It will give you the mental toughness required to dismantle the limitations you have placed on yourself and all obstacles standing in the way of your goals.

How would you feel if I told you that your inability to achieve your goals does not arise because you are lazy or lack drive, but rather it’s a problem because you have never been taught how to practice self-discipline? People are not born with self-discipline. Like driving or playing tennis, it’s a skill that you learn.

In The Power of Discipline you will discover:

  • How to master self-discipline by targeting certain areas of the brain
  • What is the Navy SEALs’ secrets to self-discipline
  • What are the Zen Buddhists’ secrets to self-discipline
  • How to ditch your bad habits and adopt the habits of successful people
  • What are the strategies to keep going when your motivation runs out

It’s impossible to buy back the time you have lost, but you can take control of your future.

Nothing new here.

I purchased the audio version of the book but plan to return it. I've listed to about one-third of the book and don't find anything here that isn't what I consider general knowledge about the need for and impact of self-discipline.

Awesome!!👍🏿👍🏿

This was very helpful for me, I believe that most of the stuff I know but need it to be said by someone else other than myself and people I know. I like the break down of the chapters and how to deal with my emotions.

Life changing book!

This book was so good! I appreciated that he laid out the “why” that we need to be self disciplined (including science based research). He wrote about how it can help you in your life-both personally and in work. He also included the “how” you can make these changes to better your life.

Great Read (Listen)

I enjoyed listening to this book. It has a lot of great ideas and encouragements. With anything you need to put in the work to make it happen.

In our day and age of instant gratification, this takes me back and reminds me that it doesn’t always work that way, Nor should it!

Enjoy 😊

not so practical

not really practical. It doesn't give as much sth like homework or actual ways to achieve better self discipline. it's not well developed.
reading Atomic habits is a lot better. the author recites the book too:)

great until about half way

the first half of this book is great. lots of good insights into the art of being more disciplined - great tips, advice and explanations. then about half-way in it descends into crazy town, with nutty descriptions of the 'magical powers' of shaolin monks, and references to the king of absurdity himself - Deepak chopra. I had to give up at that point as the author had lost all credibility.

Outstanding audio book

Easy to listen to, very insightful and covers topics in just the right amount of detail. I listened to it on the treadmill and the time flew which is unusual. Would definitely recommend.

Very good listen

I would recommend this book! Though some of the ideas in there are not new to me, howevrr, there are some principles to success, progress and generally forging ahead that must be repeated! Would be reading it again :)

A must, must read for any entrepreneur

This has been one of the most valuable books I've listened to. I love the structure, the delivery of the advice backed up with evidence, the encouraging words and the examples: The Buddhist monks and Zen meditation were my favourites. The chapter about 'burn out' is essential for any entrepreneur and put a lot in perspective for me. I'm going to read the paperback version of this now so I can take notes and highlight bits. Thank you Daniel Walters, I am so grateful to you for having written this book and to Russell for narrating it so I could listen in the morning before I started work. This book has also helped me get through a challenging time of running a business, home schooling 2 children and caring for my elderly father when he got really ill a few weeks ago. I love your work.
