Publisher's summary

In April 2016, computer technicians at the Democratic National Committee discovered that someone had accessed the organization's computer servers and conducted a theft that is best described as Watergate 2.0. In the weeks that followed, the nation's top computer security experts discovered that the cyber thieves had helped themselves to everything: sensitive documents, emails, donor information, even voice mails.

Soon after, the remainder of the Democratic Party machine, the congressional campaign, the Clinton campaign, and their friends and allies in the media were also hacked. Credit card numbers, phone numbers, and contacts were stolen. In short order, the FBI found that more than 25 state election offices had their voter registration systems probed or attacked by the same hackers.

Western intelligence agencies tracked the hack to Russian spy agencies and dubbed them the Cyber Bears. The media was soon flooded with the stolen information channeled through Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks. It was a massive attack on America but the Russian hacks appeared to have a singular goal - elect Donald J. Trump as president of the United States.

New York Times best-selling author and career intelligence officer Malcolm Nance's fast paced real-life spy thriller takes you from Vladimir Putin's rise through the KGB from junior officer to spymaster-in-chief and spells out the story of how he performed the ultimate political manipulation - convincing Donald Trump to abandon 70 years of American foreign policy including the destruction of NATO, cheering the end of the European Union, allowing Russian domination of Eastern Europe, and destroying the existing global order with America at its lead.

The Plot to Hack America is the thrilling true story of how Putin's spy agency, run by the Russian billionaire class, used the promise of power and influence to cultivate Trump as well as his closest aides, the Kremlin Crew, to become unwitting assets of the Russian government. The goal? To put an end to 240 years of free and fair American democratic elections.

My goal: THE PLOT TO MAKE THIS REQUIRED CLASSROOM READING

Malcolm Nance is a TRUE American PATRIOT. My hope is that this book becomes MANDATORY reading across schools of all Allied Nations. My hat is off to you, Sir. If only more people weren't fooled and compromised themselves. Thank you for your continued service. #RESIST

A must read for anyone concerned about democracy

Would you consider the audio edition of The Plot to Hack America to be better than the print version?

I listened to the audible and use the book for notes. Because of the wide range of Russian names, having the book to keep track is helpful.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The most compelling aspect of this book is the fact it was published just after the national conventions. Every day we wake up to hear another chapter be verified.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Malcolm explains it's not changing votes, it's about manipulating the minds of a targeted group of voters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me afraid for our democracy and how easily so many could be convinced to vote against their best interests.

Any additional comments?

I have passed the paperback to everybody that I know that will actually read a book.

absolutely compelling

Malcolm hits it out of the park. This book is amazingly clear and concise and documented in such detail that it's on a par is Chris Hedges. I think this is really an important book because he educated me 2 lumens red I might not have even been aware of. it articulates the depth and extent of the Russian hacks and their malicious involvement in our Democratic processes. as each step of this covert plot is chronicled the strength and importance of our counter-intelligence any agencies. Psychology is the light saber of our age and Malcolm shows how it's being wielded with surgical precision to put us in positions where we hate one another and so diminish the core of our democracy until it's so hollowed-out that it ceases to function. The educated reader will prepare and himself/herself through this book to identify and at a minimum be aware of the threats obscurities and how really dangerous they are.

We are forewarned and should take heed to know

I unknowingly listened to the 2nd book first, so to hear how things might be happening actually were happening. This info can be scary because so many people don't have a clue what's going on.
