Dorian Gray embodies every artistic element for artist Basil Hallward. But when Lord Henry reveals the phenomenal world experienced only to the young and beautiful, Dorian makes a devious deal. Thus begins Dorian Gray's extensive journey into dissipation, while somehow maintaining every element of his youth and innocence. What is his secret? And why does he keep Basil Hallward's painting hidden from prying eyes?

the beginning of the book was good. the middle was boring and hard for me to follow. I like to finish everything I start, so I trucked on through. the last half/quarter of the book was fantastic.
I would definitely recommend.bj Harrison is one of the best narrators.

it surprised me.

I found myself reading this again after reading this in my youth out of sheer curiosity. When I was younger, I was caught up with Dorian's fierce romanticism and savagery. Today, I found Dorian a somewhat unlikable tedious character. Please do not misunderstand me, the writing is still fascinatingly lyrical to me. But as a subject, I don't know if I really care for it, nor do I think I shall ever read this book again. I finished the book because it had to be done.

IDK

The story, the writing and the narration come together so well. It's like walking through a museum of beautiful paintings, simply beautiful.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is one of those rare literary feats that bridges the soul and body of a story perfectly. The painting is the conscience of Dorian Gray, and it is the spirit of the story, its raise d'être. For this reason, anyone can be captivated by the tale--but the more time spent, the more thought invested, the greater the reward (like diving to take a closer look at a seabed of corals.)

The performance is an excellent match for the depth of the novel. The narrator's voice is soothing and drew me in, allowing my mind to roam along the essence of events and descriptions. The character voices are exceedingly well-done. Dorian changes in the nature of his voice as much as in his actions and psychology. The same happens to the other influential characters. I think it takes a unique reader who loves and understands literature (true literature), to perform the novel in the spirit that befits it. Highly recommended!

An Exquisite Performance of Wilde's Greatest Novel
