Excellent!

This is SUCH a fun read! Admittedly, I was extremely skeptical about a historical retelling that has a famous male figure remade as female (not my thing)… but it isn’t a rewriting of history to portray modern ideology as I had feared. It’s a funny, lighthearted, and heartwarming story of honor, courage, and knightly quests. I absolutely loved it!

The real King Arthur runs off with a shepherdess right before he’s supposed to pull the sword from the stone. Desperate to carry on with his plans of uniting Britain, Merlin casts a spell to pull a ‘fitting’ person from the future to take his place. This person ends up being a modern young woman named Britt. Taken aback but not deterred, Merlin moves forward with his plans and Britt takes on the role of King Arthur. Equipped with a loose knowledge of the legends to guide her, Britt comes to embrace her role and begins to gather her faithful Knights of Camelot around her.

The narrator is also quite perfect! Highly recommended all around.

Content:
There’s no foul language or sex. The romance is very clean with only a few kisses late in the series. There is some violence given the battles, but a strong emphasis on the value of life. There are Christian references in regards to the time period, but it’s not really a part of the story and the book doesn’t really speak for or against faith or God.

Love all of this author’s works, and this performance perfectly presents this series. Nathaniel Priestley was absolutely wonderful, using very distinct voices and accents for each character so you know exactly who is speaking at any time. Absolutely worth purchasing!

Loved every minute of it!

Loved every minute of it. This is one of my most favorite books and this narrator made it come alive. His voices were so good and spot on. (Though his American accent did make me grin. 🙃) Listening to this was an extremely effective hook to get me to work out!

Loved The Narration!

This was certainly very memorable and twistsy. I enjoyed seeing all the legendary characters make appearances, and the ending made me teary-eyed. If a gender bent retelling piques your interest, give this a read!

Amazing and funny

It was an amazing story. It was full of heart and had a heroine who took charge of her new life.

Amazing story!

I love this story! It has been a favorite of mine since K.M. Shea wrote it a few years ago. I was so happy to see come out as an audiobook and jumped on the chance to listen to it. The narrator did an amazing job giving each character a unique voice, especially considering how many different characters there are throughout the series. It was so much fun listening to it while I worked around the house, and it made my menial chores so much more enjoyable. My house hasn't been this clean in a long time as I looked for more to do so I could continue to listen. If you loved reading the series, you'll love this. If you haven't read the series, get it anyway, because you'll love it!

I really enjoyed the story and the performance. Very well done. I was a bit hesitant at first, as I don't generally like time travel. However, once I got past the first 2 chapters I realised that it's definitely not sci-fi but a very simple way to get a relatable, modern character into the time of King Arthur.

I love all of Shea's books. Her writing draws you into each book along with King Arthur/Brittany and her knights. Narrator was very good. lI am glad this is now part of my Audible list and can listen to it again.
