Publisher's Summary

A decade ago, the Lullaby Man preyed upon young girls in Tallman's Valley. He stole into their lives, whispered in their ears, spoke of love.

Abby Wakeland was 14 then. Now 24, she's found the courage to tell her mother - Senior Detective Kate Wakeland - about what happened.

The Lullaby Man was her teacher.

What Abby reveals next will lead Kate down dark, twisting tunnels of discoveries that will blow this small town apart.

Won’t disappoint

Anything Caroline Lee narrates Has to be good and this does not disappoint. The story was interesting the ending was Quite unanticipated. The characters are colorful. The second book in a series… I definitely will read the third

Good but terrible accents.

Ive listened to the first and second books. I find them a reasonable read but overly padded out at parts.
As a Scot myself, listening to this attempt at the Scottish accent was really bad and made me cringe, but the general story carried it forward.

First book was mediocre. Wish I hadn't bothered with this

I don't know why I kept listening right to the end, or why I bought it in the first place! I found the first in the series pretty average, but easy listening, and felt slightly curious about what happened next. I would have found it easier to listen to if the narration had been better. The poor narrator did her best, but this book called for two or three narrators. There were far too many accents for one person to cope with. The Scottish accent was dreadful, and I found myself groaning whenever a Scottish character came on the scene. Many times I found myself unable to concentrate because I was bored! Im just glad it's over and I can move on to something more enjoyable. I won't be buying the next in the series.

Brilliant. 6* book

This is book two in the series and I was drawn to book one on the basis of the narrator, Caroline Lee, she’s an excellent narrator (apart from the Scottish accents! Sorry Caroline) and I’d listen to practically anything she reads as she seems to have discerning taste in her choice of authors.

In being led by the narrator I obviously fell upon an equally excellent author. This book is so entertaining and descriptive, it’s sad and tragic but life affirming too. And it’s nice to see an older woman in the role of a detective, giving a different dimension to the story than the standard format.

I’m about to start her third book (I think it’s a stand alone novel), I don’t know if she’s written more, but there are only 3 currently on Audible although I think she has also collaborated with another author. I hope there will be more in this series, I’d like to know what happens to the characters, they’ve had a shockingly bad time of things!

Good follow up The Last Child

I enjoyed this story and the narration (just struggled a bit with the ‘Scottish’ accent)

OMG! I'm Stunned!

This is an amazing book! Take a few gritty subjects that we'd rather not think about and work towards the most alarming conclusions; take us through eye witness/listening moments until the final shocking resolution of the final pages. I'm exhausted! But it is 4:38am - I've listened without sleep all through the night. What a book! What a writer. Caroline Lee is a familiar Aussie voice who has developed heaps more voices as she's read so many books throughout the years. Five stars to everyone involved with this book. I'm still shaking my head, stunned.

Great Story

Loved this story, much better than the first one and I really enjoyed the first one! Narrator was great but once again the accents were just a little annoying but not enough to spoil the story. Plot was excellent, slow build up and not easy to guess the ending. I enjoy the way this writer ties up all the loose ends and doesn't leave you hanging like so many do. Really looking forward to book 3.

Can not wait for book three

As the heading says I can't wait for the last instalment. Why is such a small town so sick and evil?
