Loved It So Much

Absolutely amazing and I loved this book so much. Such an amazing series and love the author's work.

I’ve enjoyed every single one of these books! The enter series was great! Plenty of twists and turns. This book kept me engaged and wondering who was the bad guy/girl!

Surprised by the ending!

I loved that the book kept you guessing about who may have done what to whom, and why! Kept me very entertained and when I don’t want a book to end then I know it was great.

Great ending to the series!

I loved how they incorporate James Franco's dynamic into this story line and it connected well to the previous book. I love Anne Taylor stories they always keep me on the edge of my seat!

My absolute favorite police procedural thriller series

I have read these 4 books in a row. Just phenomenal plot and excellent narration. It’s smart and also keeps you on the edge of your seat. They are meant to be red in order because there are continuing back stories.

Never Disappoints!

This series is so well connected, yet each book is great on its own! These stories keep me guessing all the way. I’m flying through them one after another!

Great book but terrible idea on adding male narrator!

I don’t want to take away from the book and storyline as I love this series and have throughly enjoyed all the previous books in this series, but I almost had to stop listening to this because if the additional male narrator. The author does such a good job of painting scenes in your mind and you listen to the stories unfold and Caroline is one of the best narrators I have heard on audible so I keep coming back for more. Anni spins a story with such excellent and vivid descriptions of even the smallest details to relay a scene and you build a world in your mind in which the story unfolds. It is like sitting in an art gallery enjoying some masterpiece and soaking in every detail, then suddenly without warning someone comes in and throws a can of black paint all over it in front of you. That is how jarring it was to have the same characters narrated by two completely different voices, using different accents within the space of a few seconds. I have been annoyed in the past when a book series switches narrators from book to book and your brain has trouble when you hear a completely different voice and accent for characters you have got to know in previous books, but within the same chapter it is horrendous. As if the change isn’t bad enough, the male narrator’s voice was so annoying. A forced deep voice and much heavier accent than the same characters have with Caroline.

However, this review should be more about the book and not the narration, so if you can get past the male narration part, this book again draws you in and keeps you guessing with the plot twists and turns. While perhaps down just a notch from the first books in the series it was still engaging and entertaining and leaving me wanting more. The books are connected and carry details over from one book to the next, but each is a new story line in its own right, and not just a sequel or continuation of the same story line.

Having a good narrator can make or break a book and I think this one just survived a horrible choice by some misguided soul to split the duties between two completely different voices.

Suspense

Anni Taylor books are the best! TheTallman Valley series was so good. I couldn’t wait for the next book! What I didn’t like was the change of voices when I started The Burning Rooms.

Love the book, hated the male narrator.

I absolutely loved all of the books in the series and didn’t even check to see who narrated before purchasing the fourth book. The male narrator, while likely fine, was absolutely not on par with Caroline Lee who is AMAZING. I couldn’t even finish the book because the difference in ability was so stark and kept pulling me out of the story.
