Great Story, Better Performance
I liked this book but I wanted to love it. It was well told with great characters and a unique premise. My only real issue was the few times that the story dragged on unnecessarily. Other than that, it was awesome.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Highly recommend if you like to be on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The narrator Phil Gigante does an awesome job santiago will scare the hell out of you

Very well written and suspenseful - but graphic.
I read and enjoyed the book before I ever listened to it in audio form. While it is what I would call gory and graphic at points - it is also very well written and suspenseful. The narrator does an excellent job translating the tension and horror of the written word to spoken word. The story moves along rapidly and there are hardly any dull moments. Enjoyed!

Not one of my favorites but good enough not to be bad. The military lose a group of chemically enhanced killers, who terrorize a small town in Wisconsin.

The storyline grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go!
I loved the layers to the story and the horrible surprises waiting around every corner. Even if you skim books, this one will compel you to read it inits entirety.
That’s the only way to figure how the author gets to the end.
The denouement (tying up loose ends) flows like melted butter over freshly hot popcorn.
WARNING: this novel details lots of violence, torture and death.

What Kind of Sick F&%#...
What did you love best about Afraid?
So I told my girlfriend to recommend a book that would "shock me"; a book that would make me think "what kind of sick f&%# would come up with something so disturbing?!"
Well I didn't have that exact reaction from Afraid. One theory is because maybe I'm already some kind of sick f&%# myself. :) That's actually a pretty solid theory...
With that said, what I will say is that I discovered a really creative and gripping story. Yes, there is some serious gore, but the author only gives enough detail about those situations to allow your imagination to take it to the next sick level. He doesn't dwell on those details and that keeps the story moving at a great pace.
